"When GiveDirectly came for enrollment, we decided as a family that we would spend our transfer to build a more spacious house so that as our family grows, our children would have their bedroom. Because of this, I will leave our current house for my younger brother so that he would not be sleeping at our neighbor's house anymore. My transfer came in handy in buying all the necessary building materials and paid for the labor at KES 35000. In addition, we spent KES 15000 to expand our current business of buying and selling milk by paying for them in advance since getting milk nowadays has been hard due to the dry season that we recently faced. I spent the remaining amount on food and other basic needs for the family."

"We do casual jobs to meet our family's needs of food, clothes, and school fees for my son. We earn KES 200 more so on non-market days otherwise it can be less. Due to unreliable sources of income, I sold all my cows to raise my son's school fees. Receiving this money means reclaiming our assets and investing in dairy farming. We are planning to purchase a dairy cow with KES 35,000. This will bring joy and happiness to my family since I will no longer use KES 60 daily to purchase milk for consumption at the same time I can sell milk in surplus to get money."

"When I withdrew the money, I decided to build a rental house which will serve a long-term source of income. In respect to that I used KES 40000.00 in the construction and lucky enough the house is now occupied by some tenants thus I am expecting some income monthly. I also paid KES 3900.00 school fees for my 3 primary school children and the remaining amount went for family food and water."

"GiveDirectly is a good organization which I can recommend other organizations to emulate how organized and well structured it is. This organization has touched the hearts of many of us and uplifted our living conditions which were miserable. My opinion to this organization is to request if it is possible they increase the amount from KES 110000.00 to KES 200000.00. By doing so, we will have a wider range of activities to do."

Through the organization my son has secured a job of riding the motorbike to ferry people from one place to another at a fee."

"Building a new house for my two sons was the new goal that developed recently. For all those years, we have been sheltering under one roof which was not right according to our culture since they are bow teenagers. Therefore I have been thinking that having their shelter would restore dignity and privacy as a whole."

"No, I didn't have a new goal before receiving my third cash transfer, I planned to add to my existing business and pay my kids balance school fees. That is the plan I have since I started receiving cash transfer from Givedirectly. My first cash transfer was spent on registration and part payment of my children semester tuition. I started business with my second cash transfer and bought food, uniform, books and shoes to enable my kids start class."

"Educating my children has always been my priority. This is because I want a better life for my children than mine. I have one child in secondary school and another one who is currently doing her exams. She will be joining secondary school in May and I had no idea where I will get the money. I will therefore channel 20,000 KES of the transfers to her education. I will also invest in livestock farming by buying two heifers at a cost of 15,000 KES. This will be a good investment that will help me educate my children."

"Financial constraints are really taking a toll on my life. I have a young family of a wife and two children who fully depend on me because my spouse is just a house wife. My mother also depends on me because my father works away in town and his monthly remittance is very little. My mother suffered from stroke and therefore cannot do any work. It is really a struggle making ends meet."

"My current house is small and grass thatched. I have always wanted to build a better house but financial challenges has been a problem. Receiving this money will therefore help me build a one bedroom house at a cost of 30,000 KES. My other plan is buying a bed for myself so that I can have that opportunity of sleeping on a good bed and a mattress for the first time in my life. This together with food and school fees for my children will complete the remaining 25,000 KES of my first transfer."
