Brian
received a $369 second payment.
"My life is currently so different from how it would have been. Had I not received the transfers, I would still be working as a janitor which did not earn me enough money to even settle my daily bills. Meaning I still would not have joined college because of lack of resources. But thanks to GD, I now own a business and have even enrolled in a college for my studies in education. I had lost hope but GD revamped my hope and I can dream again."

Jeniffer

"I have six children, two of whom are in secondary school while three are in primary. One of those in secondary is a candidate for this year's Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examination (KCSE). receiving this money means he will have a an ample time finishing his education. I am planning to use my first transfer to make an up front payment of his fees so he can concentrate on education. With the remaining amount, I intend to purchase a dairy cow which we will rely as a source of income for our household needs.
Upon receiving the second transfer, I am planning to buy a water generator so as to venture into advanced agribusiness. I am going to irrigate my farm and plant perennial crops that will give me returns almost thrice a year. "

Millicent
received a $533 second payment.
"I used to walk long distances to fetch water which at times was not safe for domestic use. This exposed us to water born diseases like typhoid that made us to seek treatments that were expensive and we could not afford at times. Nowadays, I have clean water by my doorstep in a water tank that I bought with the transfers. I also managed to pay school fees for my son who is in college without stress and worries as before. At least I have hope for the future as education is the best inheritance a parent can give to a child. Thanks to GiveDirectly that came handy to lift us up from poverty."

"Receiving this money means I will be financially capable of educating my children. I plan to start a grocery shop just by the road side near my house where I will be able to attract many customers. This will translate to more income that will go into my children's education as well as other necessities. The remaining cash transfer will go into livestock specifically goats, as security when need arises because I can sell them much quickly and completion of my new two bedroom house as the current one is too small for my family of five. Quinter
received a $23 twelfth payment.
"In the next six months, I expect to reap a good harvest. This will positively impact my life in that I shall have adequate food. I shall, therefore, continue to focus on supporting my children's educational needs. Moreover, I shall be spending some of my wages to buy some households which I currently do not have. As a result, my life will be better than it had been since my husband passed on."

"In the next four months, my additional goal is to save part of my transfers and later use them to enroll my daughter to college next year. She is currently in form four. I have already begun planning to make her academic transition easier. When she obtains the right education and succeeds in life, she will be of great help to my family, more so to her siblings."

Angeline
received a $256 second payment.
"In the next six months, I expect to have a good yield from my farm which I shall use to support my family. Having adequate food in the house will enable us as a family to focus on other areas of development such as paying school fees for the school going children. I believe that education is the key to success and when they shall have completed their studies, they will not only be able to seek formal employment. They will also be able to use the skills they might have learned to create for themselves job opportunities."

Nobertus
received a $533 second payment.
"I lack words to explain how my life has changed. I used to do odd jobs that could earn me at most KES 150 in a day. This amount was supposed to sustain a household of 5 children from their eating, dressing, and education. I struggled but never gave up. Personal, GD has shown me the meaning of mercy and love. Thanks to the transfers, I now live in a bigger house with rooms for both the girls and boys that means more privacy. I have also paid schools fees upfront for my children and bought foodstuff enough stock for a couple of weeks. This makes me a happy dad."
