"I used the second transfer to build a new house which I really so much because I initially used to live in a small dilapidated house. I managed to do some completion on the entire house by cementing both the interior and exterior sections of the three-bedroomed house. There is one cow which I still own to date that I bought at a cost of approximately 18000 KES."

"I spent the second transfers on buying food for the family which ensured that people never went hungry on any particular day. I also bought a television set at approximately 9000 KES. On top of that, I also bought a cow at a cost of approximately 17000 KES but unfortunately, the cow died mysteriously two months later. I also bought a solar powered panel at a hire purchase price where I made a one year deposit of approximately 12000 KES. Finally, I cultivated my sugarcane and rice plantations on a one-acre farm which had just been lying fallow for a long time because I did not have the financial capacity to get into this magnitude of farming."

"I spent the second transfer on sugar cane farming. I survive entirely on farming and upon receiving my recent transfer I saw it wise to invest in farming for more returns. Besides sugar cane farming, I also bought a cow and I can now enjoy milk tea at the comfort of my house. I also managed to get myself a cupboard and now my utensils are well stored safe from dust and breakages."

"In the next foiur months I have plans of buying a dairy cow. I plan to buy a cow amounting to KES 20000. I plan to do this by saving the monthly transfers that I get from GiveDirectly and finally add up with proceeds from farming and other income sources and be able to buy the dairy cow. The dairy cow shall provide milk enough for the family and the excess shall be sold to make additional income for other family use."

"Now that this is my son's last year in high school, My expenses on school fees will reduce as from December this year. Once I am done with schooling my eldest son I plan to buy a dairy cow. Cows do well in this area because of the climatic condition of this region. Their feeds are also readily available and affordable. That is why I felt dairy farming was the best option. It will later diversify my sources of income from the sale of milk. I bet my life will be better than the way it is right now. I thank Give Directly for the big support!"

"Where I am currently staying is my father's land of which it has restrictions on the activities to be done on it. So, when I receive this money, I will buy my own land where I will build a bigger house and freely do any activity on it without any restrictions. Just incase there is any balance, I will buy a cow that I will get milk out of it for sale and domestic consumption."

"After having breakfast in the morning , I feed the cows then embark on farming.I plant maize and beans and therefore most of the time I usually do weeding. After lunch I rest a little bit in the afternoon then take a shower and go to the nearby shopping centre where I spend the better part of the afternoon till late in the evening. This is the happiest part of my day since it is time to socialize with friends ,share ideas and keep a breast with the current issues."

"The biggest difference is that I have been able to do farming with a different touch. I purchased hybrid maize seeds which usually give good yields. Besides that, I did not use the local manure made from cow dung but with the transfers, I was able to buy fertilizer from the shop. This to me is a whole new chapter of farming."

"The biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer is that I have bought a dairy cow. I used to save some money in the merry go round group that we started in our village immediately after the first transfer. When I received my share, I used all the money to buy a dairy cow and we no longer buy milk like we used to do before. I'm a business lady and I sell groceries at the markets and this earns me small money which cannot take care of all the basic needs at home. Owning a dairy cow was not possible because I could use all the money on basic needs. Currently, I earn an income from the sales of milk at the nearby market center and I saved the money to use in paying school fees for the children in school. I'm so grateful for the support."
