"My new goal for the next four months is to save my next transfer to enable me to buy a heifer. I will keep the heifer and when it matures and gives birth I will get to sell milk and have some for domestic use. Again, the calves which the cow will have produce I will sell to earn money for paying school fees for my child."

"The small hut i live in with my family is too small and is leaking now that its on a rainy season, something that has brought shame to me since i lack a reason to give to my children whenever they ask me why this is happening. I therefore plan to build a three roomed iron roofed house to mark an end to all this. I will use part of the money that remains to buy my own cow since the one i have in my farm belongs to a relative who allowed me to keep for him and will soon be coming for it."

"Three years ago I borrowed a dairy cow from a friend of mine as a source of income for my family. I have since talked him into selling it to me upon receiving the first transfer to which he agreed. Receiving this money will therefore boost my esteem as a proud owner of a dairy cow, something I have aspired to do for a long time. With the remaining amount, I am planning to venture into poultry farming as a form of savings and source of income that will fend for my children's education in future. "

"Our Merry-go-round group consists of twenty members whose contribution when we come together is 20000 KES. This to us had been a big sum of money which have enabled us to start and complete a lot of projects. After construction of a good spacious house which is our joy in our household, we still have an additional goal to purchase a cow since we have been buying milk for a long time. We have a plan to purchase a good breed of a cow which will be producing milk both for domestic and commercial use whenever we have a surplus."

"The biggest difference in my daily life is that I now own two dairy cows. This has been my longtime dream which I could not fulfill on my own due to my lowly income. Its only through this financial support that my dream of owning them has come true. From the dairy cows, I will be getting milk for my family consumption and sell the surplus thus earning some income. This income will enable me to cater for my children school fees as well as meeting the basic needs. Also, I am expecting the cows to reproduce in the near future and I will be able to sell the offspring to earn extra cash."

"My first priority is to build a house for my family in the rural area. My husband and I have not been able to have our own house due to lack of capital. All our lives are centered here in Mathare but it will be nice for my children to visit their relatives upcountry often. Once I build a house we will have a place to sleep whenever we visit the rural area. Secondly I will use the transfer to expand my business of selling fish. I currently sell in small scale and I want to be bringing more fish and even employ someone to run my second location of selling fish. This will increase my income and I will be able to cater for my basic needs. I will then use the remaining cash to buy a cow in the rural area. I will use it for milk production, sell the milk and get an income from it."

"I have children and daughters in law but they do not contribute towards my upkeep on most occasions because they too are overwhelmed by their own family needs. This has always forced me to look for cow-dung around the village despite my aching limbs when performing such tasks such. My life is currently different from how it was four months in that I have cemented my house into a semi-permanent one and the remaining part is the outside walls. Due to this, I will no longer seek help from my grandchildren most of the time to assist me to smear it."
