"In my opinion, GiveDirectly has done well by giving out transfers to improve the living standards of the poorest individuals in the village. This is because the majority of us in my village now own livestock such as dairy cows, oxen, goats, and sheep. The dairy cows will produce hence cutting on the costs of buying milk. We can also sell some liters in order to buy other basic needs such as food. With the oxen, they will be helping us in ploughing our farms. For this reason, we are assured of getting some good harvests from our farms. Previously we used to till by ourselves which was tiresome and we used to get low harvests since we could not till many acres by ourselves. We can decide to sell any of these animals in times of emergencies. According to me, Give Directly plan to give cash transfers is the best decision. I have not seen any negative action they have done so far."

"My additional goal is to buy a cow. I plan to buy a cow because there is high demand for milk in this village. Very few people own cows in this region. The quality of milk distributed by the vendors is also poor but we usually buy from them because we don't have any other choice. I believe that once I buy the cow I will get many customers because my milk will be of high quality and I will be accessible all the time since I stay in that village. This has been my goal for a very long time and I can't wait to own one"

"I expect my life to change in the next six months in that, I shall have started rearing chicken which I will use my two subsequent transfers to build a chicken coop and buying a few chicken for the start. In addition to this, I am planning to use the money I will get after selling my french beans to buy a dairy cow. Dairy farming has always been my dream and hopefully, before the end of this year, I foresee myself starting it up. Having the two projects running smoothly has always been my dream to serve as my alternative sources of income."

"Before receiving transfers from GiveDirectly, we had no livestock in our household. We used to buy everything from eggs to milk on a daily basis for our domestic use. It was really hard for us to managed and sometimes we would go without them which means my children would miss their usual cup of tea at some point. As we were expecting the first transfer, we sat down with my husband and decided that we would start a saving plan towards the purchase of a cow once we received the money. No sooner had we received the at first transfer than we opened a common Mshwari account where each of us was contributing 1500 KES monthly and within no time it was enough to buy us two cows. Currently, we are producing our own milk which is enough for both our household use and surplus for sale. This indeed is the biggest difference in our daily lives."

"The biggest difference in my daily life is that I have been able to buy livestock that I know will help me a lot in the future. This is a big investment for me since I will be able to sell the goats that I have and be able to buy a dairy cow that will help me feed my family and meet other family expenses. I am so grateful to GiveDirectly for the support that they gave me."

"The biggest difference in my daily life that has happened over the last four months is that I have been able to make my monthly merry go round successfully without fail. Once I get the contributions next month, then I will use the money accumulated to buy a dairy cow. I have this urge of owning an asset of my own. This will definitely help me now and in the future when I will have to pay school fees for my child. I also have plans of starting a small business of my own and be self employed once I get this money."

"My additional plans for the next four months is to be able to save enough money to be able to buy a dairy cow. We are currently spending a lot of money to buy milk for the family. This is very costly while the money used to buy the milk could have as well been diverted into other meaningful uses for the family. I plan to do this through savings made from the monthly transfers and other income generating activities that we engage in as a family."
