Kashutu
received a $23 eighteenth payment.
"I have a desire to raise livestock as a source of income. Specifically, I want to venture into goat and chicken farming since these animals tend to multiply relatively quickly. With two goats secured from previous cash transfers, my goal is to purchase more and expand the herd by the end of the year. Currently, I have a total of ten goats, and I would be delighted if this herd continued to grow. In the future, I can sell these goats to generate funds for contributing to the education of my four grandchildren and covering medical expenses when I'm unwell. I hope that the cash transfers will allow me to buy as many goats as possible because they are my sole source of income at the moment."

"My family normal eat meat during Christmas festivals only. This is because of my financial position. In July this year, I slaughtered a chicken for my family to celebrate despite the fact that we have been going without food for sometimes. My family enjoying the meat brought happiness in my life."

Mwanaidi
received a $23 seventeenth payment.
"I have a goal of growing my herd of animals. I have some goats and chicken. The number has increased as the chicken will lay eggs and hatch while goats will give birth to kids. When you buy one animal, it can multiply and you have more than what you put in. I believe this will come in handy in educating my children. I plan to sell them whenever I have school emergencies of food emergencies."

Abubakar
received a $23 seventeenth payment.
"I have been spending most of my transfers in the previous months on ensuring that we have access to food. However with the rains we were able to farm food which we have now harvested and now have an abundance of food. I have been buying clothes with my transfers since most of my clothes are worn out and I was also able to buy iron sheets and chicken. I bought clothes worth $4 in July and $10 in September. I also got iron sheets in August and July at $30. In September I saved $24."

"I have a sibling still going to school, my mother's youngest is in grade four. I have used $5, $2 in July and August to pay for her school. I have also joined a savings group in September last year after I started receiving Transfers from GiveDirectly. I save approximately $10 to $30 depending on my financial needs. In July I saved $10, in August I saved $20. I also set aside some money monthly to sort out arising needs, in July I set aside $7 in August I set aside $10 and $4 in September. This money usually comes in handy when food runs out in the house or an emergency such as disease comes about. In July I sought treatment at $5. In September I got a goat at $28. I also have some chicken which I got chicken feed for at $2 in July and August."

Antonina
received a $372 initial payment.
"Receiving the cash transfer from GiveDirectly was a blessing for my family. I first paid $125 in school fees arrears for my two children. It brought a smile to my face to see them settled in school, ready to learn and build a brighter future. Education is so important, and I'm glad I could use this money to support their schooling.
I also shared $100 with my co-wife. Our husband, a casual laborer, was going through tough times financially, and I knew her children needed help too. It felt good to be able to support her and ensure that all the kids in our family had their needs met.
Apart from that, I used $86 to invest in our family's future. I bought seven ducks and four chickens to start a small poultry business. I hope that over time, this investment will help us generate more income and improve our family's financial stability.
Lastly, I put aside the remaining amount for our family's everyday expenses. Having this safety net means we won't have to worry about going hungry or struggling to meet basic needs. Thanks to GiveDirectly, our family's future is looking brighter, and we have a bit more security in our lives."

Kondo
received a $23 fourteenth payment.
"Even though I am getting older, I still have five children in school who rely on me to pay their tuition fees. I lack a steady source of income. My main way of livelihood is through subsistence farming, but that only happens when it rains. Additionally, I take care of someone else's cattle, and they pay me a small fee from time to time. That's what I use to provide food for my family and cover my children's school fees. To be honest, before Give Directly, things were really tough. But now, the cash transfers have made a significant difference. Whenever I receive the cash transfers, my main focus is on my children's education, food, and building up my livestock holdings. From the recent funds, I allocated $44 for school fees, which has reduced the number of times my children were sent home from school. I also bought a goat for $30 and three chickens for $10 intending to grow my own herd of livestock as assets. The rest of the money was spent on food to make sure we did not go hungry. I am truly thankful for the cash transfers."

Penina
received a $23 thirteenth payment.
"I am a mother of seven children, with six of them currently attending school. When I received my transfers, I allocated $15 to pay off their school fees, as they had outstanding balances that needed to be settled to prevent any disruptions in their education. Unfortunately, I experienced a setback with my poultry as all my chickens succumbed to disease and all died. To restart, I invested $10 to acquire two new chickens. With the remaining $9, I purchased food to ensure my family's well-being."

I would like to express my gratitude to GiveDirectly for all their support and assistance."
