"The biggest difference in my daily life is the fact that I have finally been able to buy a dairy cow. This is something I have been looking forward to achieving considering that I have been buying milk for household consumption, something that has been very expensive for us. This was particularly difficult for me considering that I entirely depended on casual labour to raise income that could be used to meet the basic household needs and which sometimes was hard to find. There are times when we had to go without breakfast owing to the fact that I did not find any job the previous day and it was so demoralizing and embarrassing as well. During such times, I often felt like I had failed in my sole responsibility as a parent. We currently have enough milk for my family and a surplus for sale and this has greatly improved our living standards as a family. I also used part of the income to buy farm inputs and hybrid seeds and we are looking forward to having an even bigger harvest this season which will make us food sufficient and empower us to meet other family expenses. My children are a happy lot because I was able to pay their school fees in time and this has led to an improvement in their performance a lot compared to the previous and past terms. Nothing could make me more proud as a parent than being able to give the best to my children."

"My life is currently different from the way it was four months ago in that I now have water in the house. Previously I had to walk for many kilometers in search of water. This was hectic and time-consuming considering my old age. In addition to that, I'm currently in the process of plastering my house courtesy of the GD money. This will save the stress of looking for cow dung in neighbors home every time for smearing my house so that it could neat."

"I had been longing to own a dairy cow for so long but this had not been possible due to financial constraints. At the moment, I thank GiveDirectly for enabling me to achieve this goal. Apart from getting milk for our consumption, I can now earn respect our community has for the people who own one. I am also happy since I was able to increase my acreage under maize cultivation. I am now optimistic that my family will have food to last until the next harvesting season. All these two activities which were made possible through the use of the transfer make the biggest difference in my daily life."

"The two dairy cows are my previous assets I can proudly mention. They have made my life to be totally different in many ways. First, I am now getting some milk for my family consumption which is now a surplus to our daily meal. Before, I used to buy the milk from my neighbors which was somehow expensive. Sometimes I could not afford. I thank GiveDirectly because now i am selling the few liters to my neighbors. Which is still like a dream to me. My life has really transformed. The money that I am getting from the sell of milk is now my source of income. I am now meeting my family's basic needs and other households at ease."

"Receiving this money means I will buy some cement in order to complete plastering our house that a are staying in. The floor I dusty and it's not healthy to live in a dusty environment. I will also buy a cow to act as an investment to the household which will support in payng our children's school fees. When they multiply, some will be sold while the rest are kept go multiplication purposes. I do not have any regular source of income now and that has made my self esteem low. I will pay off the lease amount for the money my spouse got for paying bride price to my parents. "

"I felt so happy the moment I received the money from GiveDirectly. It was very early in the morning when I heard the message from my phone and when I checked it I felt so happy because I have never received such amount of money before. My spouse too was so happy when I shared the news with her. We knew we were finally going to be able to buy a dairy cow, something we had been hoping to achieve but without success for a long time."

"The biggest difference in my daily life is that I have bought a dairy cow. I used to buy milk from my neighbors and it was so costly for me because I depend on the casual jobs in the village. A time we could miss to get casual jobs and this could mean that we could go without milk and breakfast. We do casual jobs in the village and the amount of money that we get through this kind of jobs is so small and cannot gather for all the basic needs and school fees for our children. Currently, I no longer buy milk and the money that I could have used to buy milk I use it to buy seeds for planting on my farm. I am so happy for the support it has changed my living standard. My children are now happy because they no longer miss having milk and breakfast as before."

With the cows I will be getting milk for free for my family consumption. This will boost us health wise. Previously,I have been buying from my neighbors which was very expensive and sometimes I could not afford. Apart from that, I am planning to sell the milk and getting some money in return. This will be my source of income since I am jobless. This will uplift my living standard. I will be able to cater to my family basic needs with ease."

"I have always desired to own my own cow. This is because I have been married for two years now and I am yet to pay dowry. Receiving this money therefore means that I will be able to buy a cow and as a result, I will have the means to pay dowry for my wife in the near future."
