"The biggest difference is owning a dairy cow. My children's life has improved because of the availability of milk for their nutrition. In addition to this, I am going to be selling the milk to earn a decent income. As a single parent, I am so happy that I have a daily income. I used to rely on menial jobs that were barely enough to feed us. I will be able to start a business . I will venture into running a restaurant and grocery. I will live a meaningful life because of the income bases established using GiveDirectly's help."

"I would like to improve my dairy farming activity by getting a more improved breed. The money that I will get from Give Directly will help me buy one cow to start with.I have one cow which produces 2 litres of milk a day. This earns me very little income which cannot sustain all the family's needs.I want to buy an improved breed which will cost me around Ksh 40,000(400 USD).My target is getting 15 litres for sale a day.My daughter will be joining secondary school next year and therefore I require money for school fees and other expenses come next year. The second transfer will help me a lot. "I have been saving and probably in the next four-month, I am planning to buy another cow apart from the two that I initially bought, because I wish to start a cattle rearing project. I know they will give me milk for both domestic and business purposes. This will enable me to have an additional source of income, and at times I can sell the young ones when I have a financial crisis like paying school fees."

"Receiving tho money means I will be able to complete the construction process in my house. When it is complete, it become a very conducive place to stay in. Currently, I am staying in a house that I not plastered and this makes it very cold and children often fall sick due to the cold. I will then be able to complete marrying my spouse. In our culture, a man is expected to give an agreed number of cows and goats to the girls family as an appreciation. I had earlier on given part of it and that is not earning me enough respect from my in laws."

"Receiving this money means I will be able to retrive the piece of land that I leased so that I can have a bigger space that I can cultivate to raise food. I will also buy oxen that will support in my farming activity and a cow that will provide milk for my family. I believe if these are made possible, my family will be well supported."

"The biggest difference in my life is that I have bought a dairy cow. I was yearning to own one before but since I did not have enough money I had been unable. I used to buy milk from a neighbor and it was so costly for me. I entirely depended on casual jobs in the village to get some money to meet all the basic needs of the family including paying school fees for my children. I did not have time to bond with my children well because most of the time I could wake up early in the morning to look for a job and come home late. I knew this was not good at all but I could not help but go looking for those jobs to sustain my family. At times there were no casual jobs in the village and this meant we could go without some of the basic needs at home. Currently, I have devoted most of my time on my own farm because of the fact that I no longer do much of the casual jobs. I have enough milk for my family and I sell the surplus to meet other basic needs for the family. I also have enough time to bond with my children which I did not have before I received the transfer. My children are no longer sent home to collect school fees because I cleared their fees and this had led to the improvement of performance."
