"I used to have traditional cows only but right now I bought a grade cow which can produce enough milk for us. We used to sell goats and heifers to take my ailing husband to hospital but when we received the transfer, I was able to pay off the hospital bill that we had in hospital and we have been able to take him for regular checkups without fail."

"Owning livestock has been my main aspiration since its one of the best income generating activity that we are practising in our poverty stricken region. I however did not own any livestock in my homestead because I could not afford to buy them. As at now, I am happy to have goats that I bought through the GiveDirectly transfer, which makes it to be the biggest difference in my daily life. My expectation is that they will reproduce and increase in number. I can sell the offspring to help me out in case of a financial need."

"My previous house was small and leaking during rains. It was very small and could not accommodate my children. When I received the transfer, I bought building materials such as iron sheets, building poles and nails for the construction of a new house. I am happy that my new house is now complete. I also invested this cash in buying five goats. I am keeping these goats so that as they reproduce in the near future, I can readily depend on them in case of a financial need. Lastly, I also bought an ox-plough to use with the pair of oxen to plough my farm."

"The biggest difference in my daily life ever since GiveDirectly came into my life is that I now own a few goats. I am optimistic that they will make me wealthier within a short period of time considering their gestation period is normally short and the high market demand in my region. I also believe that the goats will be of great aid especially in paying school fees for my children. In the near future, I will no longer struggle as I used to do as well as meeting my family's other household basic needs."

"The biggest difference in my daily life is eating adequate varieties of food which I couldn't afford before and now I am stress free. Initially, we used to eat from hand to mouth but with the transfers I am more healthy and neat than before. I have even added weight and I am very grateful. Owning a heifer and goats which will be a source of income for my family is also another big difference. Before, I used to be sickly and stress up because I had lost most of my dairy cows to cattle diseases which are prevalent in our place but the transfers have enabled me recover my lost glory."

"The biggest difference in my daily life ever since GiveDirectly came into my life is that I now own goats. I am hopeful in life because I am sure I will achieve most of my goals through them. The fact that they reproduce twice a year and the offsprings mature faster makes me have all the assurance. Paying school fees for my children and meeting other basic needs on time will be much easier. This is because whenever I have any emergency I will sell some of the offpsings and sort out the matter."

"The biggest difference in my daily life is that I now own some livestock which includes a dirty cow, goats, and chicken. I chose to purchase them since they will make me wealthier within a short period of time. With the dairy cow, I will be getting milk for free whereby I will be using some litres for my family consumption and sell the remaining litres to my neighbours and local markets. Also with the goats, I am sure that when I later sell the offsprings I will be able to achieve most of my goals. This makes me ambitious and hopeful in life because I will no longer strain in meeting my family's needs as before."

"The transfer is going to bring a very big difference in my life. I have been buying milk for consumption and getting this milk is quite hard. I have to go very far to get it and when I get it, it is being sold at a higher price. With this cow that I bought, I will be able to get enough milk for my family to consume and some for sale. The money that I will get from the sales, will enable me to pay school fees for my children and buy food for them. When the goats reproduce and multiply in number, I will sell some of them and use the money on other things such as starting a business or using it to build a house. The goats’ milk will also act as a substitute for the cow’s milk when it is not lactating. I will thus not be lacking milk that my family can consume. My children have also become happy because they no longer lack food to eat and they no longer have to take tea without sugar in it. Thank you GiveDirectly, may you continue with the same spirit of helping others."

"This transfer has brought a difference in my life. I was able to buy half a bag of maize that I am going to consume for quite some time and thus I will not be having any worry about food shortage. I will take care of my cows and goats. When the cows reproduce and multiply in number, I will be able to sell some calves and use the money on other important things. The goats too will be of great help to me. When they reproduce, I will be able to get milk that will act as a substitute for the cow’s milk when they are not lactating. Thank you GiveDirectly for helping me."
