"I am a widow with a family of six children. One of these children is currently in college studying electrical engineering. He depends on me to meet his educational costs. It has not been easy educating this child because I have been depending on his elder brothers to meet his academic costs. However, this is not possible at the moment because they lost their jobs as a result of covid 19. I am now forced to engage in charcoal burning business to raise his school fees and other academic costs. This business is not reliable and earns me less than 2000 KES a month, which is not enough to sustain my needs. I intend to use the first cash transfers to clear college fee balances for my child. I will use the second transfer to but a bed and a mattress that will cost 20000 KES. I will also use the remaining amount to buy food and three goats as an investment for my future."

"Receiving this money means a stable source of income for my family. This has been my longing, but due to financial instability, this dream has never arisen. This I plan to achieve by practicing livestock business ( buying goats and sell them at a profit of at least 1500 KES per goat). I intend to spend 50,000 KES for the start. This will generate income for my family of 5 members and enable us to live a life without many struggles. Also, the remaining about I will invest on my children's education so that they can have a bright future."

"I spent my transfer in buying a cow and some goats because I didn't have any of it. This animals will help in income generation when I start selling the milk from them. They will support my family nutritiously since they will have enough milk to drink and it will enable me save the cash I used to buy it with.. I will also sell their offsprings later when need like school fees arises for my children."

"Seeing my children excel in life has been my priority and due to this, I have always ensured that I support them in their education by paying their school fees on time. Recently, I was so worried on how to get money to use in paying school fees for my daughter who was about to sit for her end of semester examinations. I am glad that the transfer came on time as I was able to spend KES 32400 to clear her school fees arears. In addition, I spent KES 6000 to buy food and other hold necessities for my family. I am planning to use the remaining KES 16000 to purchase some timber and iron sheets to use in building a house for my goats. I settled on this so that I will convert their current house to be a chicken coop as I am planning to start a poultry project."

"Goat rearing is something that I had started but could not continue well due to financial problems. It does well compared to dairy farming given the dry climatic conditions in this area. Receiving this money will therefore help me add 5 more goats to the little that I have. My budget is approximately 20,000 Kenya Shillings. When I sell the goats after they multiply, they will help me cater for other needs especially school fees."

"Receiving this money means food security to my household. This is because I do farming on a half-acre of land and the much I harvest is only a 50kgs bag of maize that sustains my family of 2 for 1 and a half months. I am planning to spend KES 40000 of my first transfer to buy oxen and an oblong which will enable me to upscale my farming to produce more harvest up to 10 bags of 90kg bags of maize to sustain for more than a year. The remaining amount of my first transfer, I will use to buy a new bed and mattress to replace the old ones which do not give me nice sleep. I will further spend KES 21000 of my second transfer to buy 10 goats that will act as a long-term investment project for my household. For the remaining amount of my second transfer, I will pay school fees for my grandchildren in secondary school."

"We are currently living in one house made of grass and my children sleep with their grandmother since we do not have money to build them a house. This money is a good opportunity for me to build them a house to sleep in. I will therefore set aside KES 40000 to build them a house, I also see my dream of owning a cow and goats coming through. I will budget KES 30000 to buy a cow and two goats to enable me to earn income through milk production. I will use KES 10000 to pay fees for my children and the remaining KES 20000 I will use to buy food and clothing for my family."

"Receiving this money means building a spacious house for my family. I am a mother of four children and we are all living in a one bedroom house. It lacks privacy. I will build a two bedroom house which will cost 55000 KES. I will also use 40000 KES to buy goats as investment and also use the remaining 15000 KES to pay school fees for my children."

"Receiving this money means decent housing and food security for me. I live with my wife in a house that is not big enough for us. We even do not have a decent bed to sleep on. I am planning to use 10,000 KES to buy a bed and a mattress. Due to how small our house is, I also plan to expand my 2 room house to a four room house. The bigger house will be enough to even store some of our extra belongings. The total cost of the expansion will be approximately 15,000 KES. Due to the food insecurity caused by the long dry season, I am planning to buy 2 cows at a total cost of 30,000 KES and 5 goats at a cost of 20,000. I believe once the cows and goats start to multiply, I will be earning an income through selling the livestock and their products such as milk. For the remaining amount of money, I want to use to go to the hospital for medical check ups."
