"The biggest difference in my daily life is the fact that I now have one extra house; an iron roofed house, big enough for all of us. I am excited that I will soon have an extra space for us since we currently use one house for all the activities. I am also glad that I can now harvest clean rain water from the iron roofs. Before, I used to go fetch water in a small pound and most of the time this water was dirty and and unhygienic at all. I am no longer worried about my children taking dirty water and falling ill. The school fees burden that I had was also lessened since I was able to pay some of the fees using the transfer. We also have sufficient food after buying maize in bulk. We initially used to buy food a day at a time and apart from being expensive to do that, we were sometimes unlucky to have food and it would force us to sleep hungry."

"Upon receiving my second transfer, I decided to upgrade my house. I had been living in a grass-thatched house for quite a long time and I felt it was the opportune time to transition. So I spent Kes 25,000 to upgrade to an iron-roofed house. I bought a second-hand motorcycle for the taxi business I have been yarning to start then the remaining amount I paid fees to prevent my children from being sent home for school fees."

"In my opinion GiveDirectly has done an amazing job. We currently have decent iron roofed houses, different assets and started different businesses. I feel GD has empowered us to support our families. I don't see anything wrong done by GiveDirectly."

"My life is different that how it would have been had I not received the transfer because I now live comfortably. Before, we were living in an old house that its roof was leaking during the rainy season. Due to this, it was always difficult for us to have a sound sleep during this season as it was always very cold. Also, my children have never been sent back home like they used to before hence they have been able to concentrate on their studies. This has been possible because I was able to use my transfer to clear paying their school fees."

"I spent the second transfer on procurement of materials which was used in building the house. We have been wishing to have a new iron roofed good house, but, we've not ne in a position to due to financial problems. I also spent the other part in buying a cow. We now boast of keeping cows just like all other members of the village. "

"I have erected a wall for an iron roofed house, this makes me proud because I am heading to a direction where I will no longer be hustling to replace thatch each year. Life in a grass thatched house is not easy because I have to replace thatch yearly yet it is becoming scare and more expensive."

"I spent a good amount from my second transfer to build a spacious house for my family. The one we were living in was small and its roof was leaking. This always made it dumb and unfit for our health. Also, I paid school fees for my children using some amount so that they would not be sent back home. I spent the remaining amount to buy two sacks of maize that would last us for some time."

"I have been buying milk daily. When I received my second transfer, I spent some amount to build a spacious kitchen for my family since the one we had was old and its roof was always leaking. Also, I bought a dairy cow as an added asset to my household. When it reproduces, we will have enough milk for our consumption. I spent the remaining amount to buy food and other household necessities for my family."

"I spent KES 22500 to purchase livestock. I bought a heifer and three goats which I am currently rearing in my homestead. I am hopeful that these livestock will reproduce and increase in number with time. I feel good because I now have something to rely on whenever I get a financial problem. Apart from that, I also spent KES 11950 to purchase a new bed and a new mattress. I replaced the old and worn out bedding that I have been using for many years. I also took KES 15000 to buy 20 pieces of iron sheets, timber and nails to renovate the roof of my house which was dilapidated and leaking during rains seasons. Lastly, I bought a few households needs such as foodstuffs as well as paying for other household expenses."

"The biggest difference in my daily life is that my children are now in school having paid all their school fees. It was always depressing me as a parent seeing my children sent from school because I had not paid their school fees. This situation worsened when most of my funds went into the hospital bills. I am also glad that my children now eat well now that I can buy enough food. These transfers came in time when I was recovering from a small accident I was involved in. Therefore, I could not work and provide enough food. I am also happy that I will soon move and live in a new iron roofed house that I am almost done building."
