"My biggest cry was to have a decent and a comfortable house to accommodate my family. This has been impossible to achieve since I am no longer able to make charcoals for sale as before due to old age. We, therefore, lived in a small old-leaking traditional house that was congested. When I received the first transfer, I started building a better house, but I could not complete it since the money was not enough. For this reason, I opted to wait for the 2nd transfer so as to complete the house. As at now the house is complete and my family is living comfortably. I also used part of the second transfer to pay school fees for my children, I also bought 2 goats and a bed; and saved the rest for the family’s upkeep."

"Lack of a source of income has caused my family a lot of pain. Because my husband and I were unemployed, we could not afford to provide the basic needs of food, shelter and clothing for our three sons. So it was such a relief to receive this transfer. I spent KES 25,000 on starting a business where we sell foodstuff. I also bought goats worth KES 15,000. I plan to sell these when I need money. Finally, I spent KES 14,000 on improving part of our house that was old and falling apart, to ensure my family's safety."

"Before receiving this transfer, I had desired to own livestock for a long time. I would often get anxious when I thought about financial emergencies that arise in daily life. When you own a few, you can sell the milk that they supply to earn money. You can also sell some of the livestock for the same. Once I received the transfer, I didn't have to constantly worry about this. I was able to buy five goats. I also built a decent kitchen to cook my meals from. Finally, I bought a new bed and mattress. I now sleep more comfortably. My life has truly improved."

"I spent KES 24,000 to purchase one local cow, one goat, and one sheep. I have desired to boost my livestock rearing since I had sold most of the animals to support my children's education. I also bought 10 iron sheets, nails and paying labor charges in total KES 15,000 for the construction of an additional room for my children. This is because the house that I had was very small and to fully accommodate my family of 7 members. In addition, I bought a new mattress for 5000 the one I had was old and worn-out. For the remaining amount, I supported my kid's education by paying their school fees. The remaining amount assisted me in purchasing sufficient food for my family."

"I spent my transfer to purchase building materials including 18 iron sheets at KES 880 each, 60 building poles. The house that I had was very small to fully accommodate all of the family members and our household equipments. My 3 children were forced to seek shelter from our neighbors every night something that stressed me a lot. I also spent KES 11,500 to purchase 3 goats a future investment for my family. I will be able to sell them to cater for any financial emergency that might arise in the future. In addition, I used KES 5,000 to support my kid's education by clearing their fee arrears. The remaining amount assisted me in purchasing enough food and water for the family since we are experiencing drought and famine in our area."

"The biggest difference in my life is that my son was able to secure admission to a secondary school, unlike before where we had given up due to financial constraints, I am so happy that I was also able to prepare my farm for the next planting season, I am hopeful that with the farm proceeds I would be able to see my son through school, in addition to that I started a goat rearing business where I will be able to earn an income in future. I am so grateful and humbled for the transfer that I received that amazingly changed our living standards."

"I have for a long time admired living in a decent and spacious iron-roofed house but this has never been possible to me due to financial instability. Receiving this money will, therefore, mean realizing my dream since I intend to spend utmost 30000 KES of my transfers to ensure I construct a decent house. This will give me the freedom of welcoming my visitors whom I have postponed their appointments. On the other hand, I will also venture into livestock keeping to have a store of wealth, and with this, I intend to buy 7 goats for 28000 KES. The remaining amount will cater to other basic needs like food, nice beddings, and clothing."

"Receving this money means a good house and a stable income in the future. I have always dreamt of keeping livestock especially goats because they can survive in dry conditions. My plan is to buy 15 goats at a total cost of 40,000 KES. This means, I will have a continuous income in future when the goats multiply because I will be selling them at a reasonable profit.I intend to build a house with 30,000 KES because the one I currently live in is very weak. I feel very insecure to live in such kind of a house because it can fall down at any given time. I will then use the rest of the money to help my cowife to educate her children since my children are all grown ups."

"Receiving this money means good education for my children and self reliance through livestock production. I am a 34 year old widow with a family of 5 children who still depend on me. With an income of 10,000 KES that comes from charcoal burning, sustaining my family's needs is challenging. A huge part of the income goes into buying food and clearing medical bills. I intend to buy 10 goats at a total cost of 25,000 KES. Goat keeping will make my dream of being self reliant come true. In a year, the goats will have multiplied and will be selling them to earn an income. My 5 children are still schooling. The eldest is in a technical college and the other four in primary school. Paying their school fees being a challenge for me, I will save the rest of the money for paying their school fees as they continue with their studies."

I will also use 24000 KES to buy three mattresses and three beds for the family and spend 12,000 KES buy three goats. In future, the goats will multiply and help me to educate my children since I will be selling them and earn an income. I will spend the remaining transfers to buy food for my family. Receiving this money means a decent house for my family and good education for my children."
