"I am very happy to have received this money. I will use this money to build a house because I believe that this is my opportunity to build a house. I have been thinking about building a house but I did not have money. So the coming of this money will be a chance for me to build a good house. I will also use the money to buy goats so that I can have something to sell when I need money during emergencies."

"I spent KES 38000 to support my children's education by paying the fee arrears in secondary school. They completed their secondary last year but it was impossible to get their certificates because of the fees arrears. Currently, one of them joined the Kaguma teachers college pursuing a mathematics and IT course. In addition, I purchased a bed and mattress for KES 5,500 since I was using a traditional bed and sacks which was not comfortable. I also bought 2 goats for KES 6,000 a reliable source of income that will help me in any financial emergency that might arise. The remaining amount assisted me in acquiring sufficient food for the family."

"The biggest difference in my daily life is that though I have been able to keep goats in my homestead. I settled for them because they require minimal supervision and their offspring mature very fast as compared to the other domestic animals. I have however been yearning to at least keep them for years but I could not afford them because they were too expensive. Having in mind I am a widower, my spouse left two children behind and I have been the family's breadwinner since then. With the meager income from the cauls jobs meaning KES 200 a day wasn't enough for me to purchase any kind of livestock using my cash. Therefore my plan is that when they reproduce and multiply, they would help me in paying school fees for my children since it has been a major challenge all along. I am now positive that, I will be able to take them to higher learning institutions without even straining and I am so thankful for that."

"Since receiving this transfer, I can provide the basic needs of food, clothing and education for my family. This is a sharp contrast from our reality a few weeks ago. I sell charcoal to make a living. Sadly, the earnings from this are KES 700 only, when I'm able to make a sale. This amount is too little to sustain us, especially since my family consists of eleven of us. This transfer, however, has changed everything for us. The money has enabled us to stock on enough foodstuff for the household. We can now afford to have three meals a day, as opposed to just one. My children's school expenses have been paid for and they can stay in school and learn. We have also acquired ten goats which we can sell whenever we need money. I'm so grateful for this blessing."

"I have been having a dream to have a good house in my life but this dream has never been successful because of the economic conditions we have been expiriencing in my house for the last 10 years. Our area is a drought persistent area and we depend on a charcoal making business which is very straneous and it's revenue cannot serve us both for our daily meals and meet other expenses like building a new house. I am a mother of 7 children of which 2 are in secondary school and both my husband and I depend on the same job of charcoal making business. Receiving this money means I will fulfill my dream of having a 2 bedroomed house roofed with iron sheets, unlike this one thatched with grass. I will have my own bed room and another one for my daughters. I will spend 60,000 KES to build the house , 20,000 KES for food so that I can relieve myself from the straneous job of cutting logs for charcoal business. I will spend 30,000 KES to buy goats to keep as my family's wealthy since they do well in my area than cattle."

"Receiving this money means a better house for my family. This is because I am now living in a house that is not in good condition, the iron sheets are old and need replacement. I am planning to spend KES 40,000 on the renovation as well as buying one bed and a mattress. I will use KES 15,000 of the second transfer to buy five goats. As they multiply I will sell at a profit and address any emergency that will arise. The remaining amount will help me clear school fees for my granddaughter and other basic needs such as food and water."

"Lack of a stable source of income is the biggest hardship that I have ever faced in my life. Imagine having a family of eight children and without any source of a stable income. This is the current situation that I am facing. Over the years, I have been depending on subsistence farming. However, due to the persistent drought in our village, this has made me shift from agriculture farming to charcoal burning business. This business is not reliable because many people depend on it and there are no more trees for charcoal production. This has made life more difficult since I only manage to earn about 2000 KES a month. Upon receiving this money, I will be able to use the first transfer to finish building my house. I will then use the second transfer to buy ten goats that I will sell when they multiply as my future investment for my family."

"Receiving this money means a semi-permanent house for my family. Currently, I am staying in a small grass-thatched house that is leaking during rainy season. I am planning to spend my entire first transfer to construct a two-bedroom house so that we live a decent life. I will further spend KES 3000 of my second transfer to buy 10 goats that will act as a long time investment project to my household. I will invest the remaining amount in my children's educational needs."
