Kwema
received a $352 initial payment.
"I was very happy the moment i received the money because i i did not have food at the moment and i used the money to buy food. In addition to that, i used to live in a grass thatched house and it was always problematic during rainy seasons because my house could leak and i did not find my sleep peaceful. As soon as i got the money i bought Iron sheets which i put on my roof and my house is no longer leaking. Nowadays my sleep is sweet and i am happy"

Kadzo
received a $502 initial payment.
"The biggest difference in my daily life is that through the transfer, I managed to build a new iron roofed house. My previous house was in a bad state and grass thatched. It was full of cracks and leaking during rains. I could not renovate it due to my lowly financial status. My life today is different after receiving the money because I am now sheltering in my newly constructed iron roofed house. Had I not received this support, I would still be living in my old grass thatched house."

Paul
received a $502 initial payment.
"I spent KES 35000 of my transfer on a dairy cow because I didn't have one before. I used to rely on casual labor in order to buy a litre of milk at KES 30 per day. I spent KES 5000 on timber for building a new kitchen house because the one I had was old, very tiny and had leaking grass thatched roof. I also spent KES 3000 on clothing for my family because the clothes we had were old and worn out. I also spent some on food because the maize is still in the farm. I have saved some for house hold expenditure."

Grace
received a $502 initial payment.
"I spent KES 25,000 of my transfer on building a two roomed semi permanent kitchen. This is because initially I had a tiny grass thatched roof house which was built over fourty years and had leaking grass thatched and we used to squeeze therein with my old girls. I spent KES 6800 on four three seater sofasets because I had never dreamt of having such because I used to rely on the old arm chairs. I spent KES 4500 on a sheep because initially I had many sheep which were sold off for school fees for my kids. I also spent KES 8000 on clothing and KES 6500 on a phone for my daughter who just completed college. I also spent the rest on Christmas celebration."

I spent KES 19,000 on a heifer because I used to rely on someone's else dairy cow but in the next one year I intend to have increased milk production. I also spent KES 2000 on payment of school fees for my kids who are in lower primary school. I also spent KES 10,000 on latest clothing fashion for my family because initially we used to put on second hand clothes which quite cheaper. I also spent KES 4200 on maize meal, rice and beans.
