"As a father and husband with a relatively large family, I have been struggling in vain to build a bigger and better house. Consequently, we have been residing in a single-roomed and thatched-roof house. Hence, receiving this money means that my family shall afford to build a better and bigger house, and thus enjoy a better living standard."

"Receiving this money means a steady income for my family. I am an ambitious woman without enough resources to support my family. I have a goal of starting a retail shop along the road since this is where I will attract a good number of customers thus more profit. With a steady flow of income, I can improve my family's living standards such as replacing my leaking roof."

"Receiving this money mean I will be able to live a comfortable and healthy life. I live in a grass thatched house and tapping rain water is impossible yet we experience prolonged period of drought. Currently, I am buying clean water for domestic use which costs Ksh 10 daily which is costly yet I walk for approximately 1 kilometer to get it from a different village. My intention is to build an iron sheet roofed house of approximately Ksh 30,000 and water tank of approximately Ksh 15,000. I will be able to get clean water during rainy season and thus improving my health as well."

"I have always wished to build a more spacious iron-roofed house but this plan has never materialized due to lack of finances. I have 2 school-going children, one in secondary school and the other in college. The 3-acre piece of land that I cultivate maize in is no longer productive due to prolonged drought in this region hence I spend all the money I earn from selling the 4 bags of maize in paying school fees. Receiving this money will therefore enable me to build the house using $300. I also intend to spend $500 to buy sheep and goats that will be my store of wealth since I will be selling them after they multiply to fulfill my family necessities."

"Receiving this money means building a good house for my family. Our house collapsed in October last due to heavy rainfall thus rendering us homeless. I built a very small structure to shelter us but due to its limited size I decided to construct a bigger one. Currently, the new house is still open on the roof because grass is very scarce and I do not have to purchase iron sheets. This forces my wife and children to seek shelter at our relatives' houses during rains."

"I have desired to construct a decent house for my family like others in our village. Currently, I am living in a small, leaking grass-thatched house that has collapsed on one side. We experience strong winds at night and this has brought a lot of health challenges to my last born child who suffers from bone problems that have rendered her unable to walk or stand for 3 years now since she was born. Receiving this money means the realization of my dream as I am planning to spend $ 200 to construct a specious iron-roofed house. The remaining amount will assist me in taking my child to the hospital, she requires to undergo physiotherapy every month."
