"For all those years I have been admiring to own a decent spacious house but that remained to be a dream since I had no money to purchase the materials. My previous house was in a very bad state and was almost collapsing and its roof was so leaky and in every winter season, it was the worst moment in our lives. We used to be rained on till dawn ad some of my properties could be damaged and even some being stolen as a result. To add to that, My spouse has been jobless for quite some time, and even getting the daily bread was sometimes unaffordable. Considering my daughter has been ailing as well we could even not afford to purchase any drugs to relieve her pains. This is well sorted now because I no longer have to worry about the rains and o shelter becasue I have a nice house which can accommodate us all. Also, I managed to take my daughter to the hospital and we are hopeful she will be fine. I wouldn't have achieved all these if it were for the support from GiveDirectly"

"I spent part of my first transfer on buying some buying materials such as two pies of iron sheets, building poles, nails, timber, and threads. I purchased all these with an intention to construct a new house because the previous one had a leaky roof and very small, some of my family members had to seek shelter from friends. I also purchased three goats at a total of KES 9000. I also bought new school uniforms fr my children and already their fees as well. With the remaining amount, I bought enough foodstuffs for my family"

"I am really grateful for being considered in this program. I built a house with a grass roof. I plan to replace my grass thatched roof with iron sheets when I receive my transfer. I have also been desiring to start livestock production but I have been failing because of lack of money. I intend to buy some goats upon receiving my transfers."

"My family are so thankful to be receiving this money because it will ease alot of our problems. I have a thatched roof which is covered in plastic and during the rainy season we experience alot of leakages and our personal belongings and house is damaged in the process. I plan on using this money to buy iron sheets and investing in fertilizer so that we can yield alot of maize that we can eat during the course of the year."

"The biggest difference in my daily life is that I no longer worry where to get grass to replace the old ones for the roofing of my kitchen. This is because I was able to build a more spacious iron-roofed kitchen using part of my transfers. Also, building this kitchen has boosted my self esteem. This is because I am not afraid anymore to welcome any visitors to my home as I am assured that they will have a place to sleep in comfortably."

"The biggest difference in my daily life is that I am now a happy person. This is because I have been able to build a decent kitchen for my family. Due to this, we no longer use the old one that had a leaking roof and walls that had been invested by ants. I am now glad and my heart is at peace knowing that the danger the previous kitchen had posed in our lives is no longer there."

"Living in a decent, specious iron roofed house with my family is the biggest difference in my life. I had always wished to own a good house but due to the poverty condition I was not able to construct one. Previously, I was spending sleepless nights due to my leaking roof."
