"In a few years, charcoal burning will no longer be sustainable and consistent. This is will be due to the unavailability of trees. I will be highly affected because charcoal burning, solely, is my source of income. To cushion myself, I will use 10,000 KES to buy 4 goats. Livestock keeping will be my gateway to prosperity. Optimistically, the number of goats will increase in number. This will be a source of wealth. I will be selling the extra and maintaining the breeding stock for the project's sustainability."

"I shall use this money to help pay our son's school fees. He is the only one in school. As the transfers keep coming, my husband and I shall use them for food and add some more goats and chickens. Poultry farming is a lucrative business that I would like to venture into as my full-time job."

"When I received the first transfer, I did not have clothes nor any food. The situation was so bad that I had no clothes to go to church with and had lacked food for 2 days. I therfore, used the transfer to buy food and clothes. As for the second transfer, I used KES 2500 to buy a goat and the remaining KES 500 went toward the transportation of the goat to my homestead."

"I spent my transfer to construct a decent shelter by renovating my house which was collapsing. I bought new building poles since most of them had rotten due to termites that had attacked them. I also spent KES 8000 to boost my livestock rearing by purchasing two more goats. This is a long-term investment for my family which will assist me in case I face any financial challenges in the future. I also bought some pairs of clothes for every family member since we had old and few clothes to change. With the remaining amount, I bought sufficient foodstuffs for the family."

"I spent most of the transfer which was KES 15000 on settling my children's school fees arrears because I I didn't want their education to be interrupted or disrupted by lack of school fees. This is also due to the fact that I believe that I stand to benefit a lot from their good education in the future because they will find employment and will not forget about me. I also spent KES 6000 on buying two goats because I believe they are an investment, and far much better than spending the money on recurrent basic and secondary wants which would only finish the money and never make me progress. These goats, I believe, will multiply and increase in numbers which inturn I'll be able to sell one or two and address the financial challenges I will be facing in the future."

"I spent most of the transfer which was KES 24000 on settling my children's school fees arrears, whom one is college and other two in primary and secondary school respectively. I did this because it is my responsibility and I knew that even if I chose to address another challenge over this one, then still it is never going to address itself. Therefore, I made it a top priority because I know, as well, that their good education will not only benefit them alone but also I will count on them in the future when they are in employment, to help me address the financial challenges I will be facing. I also spent KES 14000 on buying a cow and a goat because I was of the opinion that spending the money arbitrarily wasn't such a good idea since it will be finished without having done anything substantial. Therefore, these livestock are an investment that I believe will live on and multiply, which will give me the financial ability to address the challenges I will be facing in the future. I am so grateful."

"I spent my most recent transfer to pay school fees equivalent to KES 15,000 for my children. Both of both are in tertiary colleges. Upon paying their fees, they have been able to continue with their studies. I also bought two goats at KES 2500 and now I own some livestock. Lastly, I spent KES 20,000 to buy some of the building materials which I used to expand my house. Currently, my house is big enough with an extra bedroom for my children."

"The main thing that I was focusing was to build a house since I had no house at all, but before starting the construction plans, I bought 4 goats and 2 chicken for KES 15500.00. I did this so that I remain with an additional thing that I can say it is due to GiveDirectly. Thereafter, I used the rest of the money in building a house. I can’t figure out the exact amount I used in purchasing the construction materials but what I know is that I didn’t have a house but through the transfer from GiveDirectly I got a house and I am grateful for that."

I also bought four goats for KES 12000.00 and paid KES 6000.00 school fees for my children and used the rest in buying some food."

"When I withdrew the money, the priority was to invest in my children education because these are the people to hold my hand at my old age. In that regard, I took KES 25000.00 and paid school fees for my secondary school child. Thereafter, I bought a bed and a mattress for KES 8000.00, five goats for KES 12000.00. Before doing another project as per my list of priorities, my daughter in-law fell sick and I used the remaining amount for her medication."
