"I have nothing much to look up for in my old age. My son is doing all the responsibilities making sure I am well taken care of. However, these transfers will allow me to participate in some decision-making and that is what is making me happy. What I plan to settle for when I start revving this money is to buy goats for rearing and also use part of it on food. I love animals and that's why I would like to invest in them especially goats because they are easy to look after. My life is going to change when I start receiving these transfers since I will now have a say in what I want to eat and spend my cash on."

"Clearance of school fees after receiving my first transfer could not come second after a devastating season seeing my children being sent home every week with the hope of getting some money before going back. I needed to pay a total of KES 28000 for the whole year and am now glad that they have ample time to study and catch up with other students. I also purchased a large plastic water tank that has stopped my frequent movement to and from the river as I have been doing previously. I can now collect the rainwater after fixing gutters that direct enough water from the roof to the tank that my family of four can use without having to worry at all. With the remaining amount, I used part of it on purchasing a dual purpose goat at KES 3000 and used the last bit of the remaining on buying foodstuff for the household."

"After an agreement with my household, we finally settled on spending a huge part of the first transfer on livestock as this has been the main source of livelihood in our village. The cost of buying milk had been straining us a lot especially now that we had been paying school fees for our three school-going children. This project is also coming in as preparation to meet the address the financial obligations as my children climb up their education ladder to their junior secondary school. I spent KES 30000 on a dairy cow that has been providing at least two liters a day since I brought it in, I also bought four goats at KES 17000, clothing for every household member at KES 5000, and used the remaining on foodstuff."

"I spent most of my transfer in purchasing building materials including building poles, nails, timber, and 30 iron sheets. Previously, we were staying in a small structure which was not enough to accommodate both us and the household properties. I was very ashamed whenever I received guests because I had to seek shelter for them in my neighbours house. In addition, I bought 3 goats for KES 10,500 to boost my livelihood of livestock rearing. Lastly, I supported the educational need of the kids by clearing the fee arrears. With the remaining amount , I bought enough food for the family."

"I was at the grazing field looking after my goats, it was about 6 pm when I received the message notification on my mobile phone. I could understand the meaning of the message since I am illiterate. I had to wait until evening when I returned home. My second-born son checked the message and break the good news that I had received my transfer. I was so happy about receiving my transfer since I had got money that will aid in the accomplishment of some of my heart's desires."

"When I received the money, I didn’t have other additional goals apart from the ones that I had already planned after the sensitization meeting we had with the GiveDirectly officers who came to our village. My plans were finalize in buying goats as I wanted to invest in them knowing that in the near future they will be a source of income to my family."

"The first thing I bought after withdrawing the money was a bed and a mattress for KES 9500.00. I bought these because I was tired of sleeping on the floor. For a while I had been sleeping on the floor because I didn’t have the capacity to acquire a bed and a mattress. Thereafter, I took KES30000.00 and paid school fees for my secondary school children who are in form 3 and 1. I also bought 7 goats and started a construction of my children house."

"Due to lack of School fees my son is still at home waiting for her Sister to complete her Studies after which he can join. He dropped in form two because I don't have any means of raising school fees. I was keeping goats for support but that is not the case now. several of them died during the dry season, I sold the remaining to clear some fee arrears for my daughter but still have fee balance, Thanks for this programme, I now have hopes of clearing all the fee balance of 30000 KES and having my son back in school after receiving the Second transfer."

"My family of two has been living in a dilapidated house for five years now. It becomes worse whenever it rains because the roof leaks. Upon receiving this money I plan to renovate the roof and the floor which I believe will make us have a safe place to sleep. I will spend 12000 KES on the renovation. I also plan to buy six goats at a cost 18000 KES which will be a great source of income for my family in future. The rest of the money will be spent on food and school fees for my son who is yet to join college."

"My celebration for the new year was fabulous. All my children had new clothes and we slaughtered a he-goat as a way of thanking God for his generous mercies for my family. This brought a lot of joy and happiness."
