"We live in a very dry place, semi arid area where we have a very big problem of water shortage. We are forced to walk for long distance looking for water for use. For this reason, I used part of the transfers to buy a water tank which will be used to store rainwater during rainy seasons. I also spent the rest of the transfer in restocking my shop which was at the verge of collapsing."

"My life is currently different from how it was four months ago in that my family has enough time to do various activities unlike before where they could waste much time looking for water. We have clean water as a family and also my neighbors benefit from this project. This has really changed our lives."

"I spent my transfers to purchase a bed and a mattress that I lacked in my house, and also to repay a debt of 2000 KES that I had borrowed from my youth group. I used to sleep on the floor as I had never owned a bed or a mattress. I cleared high school last year but one in the year 2017. I have been surviving on construction jobs and selling water for my youth group project. What I make from these jobs is only enough to cater for my meals and my rent. At times I fail to get these jobs. I am grateful to Give Directly that I was able to make my life better. Now I have a comfortable bed and mattress."

"Speaking the truth my brother I have been going through hard times with my mother since our dad died when I was at the age of 5 and I don't have any job to earn income. The change I have realized in my daily life is that, I have managed to complete the construction of my house. I have also bought a bicycle for fetching water which has been a big challenge for me at home. If there was a way this donor could come down to my place I would slaughter for him a bull because in this world I have never seen a person distributing money to the people he/she doesn't know or met."

"Walking several kilometers daily to fetch water is not an easy task. In our area, to get water, you have to walk a long distance to the nearest river for both domestic and livestock uses. This has been a tough job for me. Recently the government of Kenya assisted us by piping water to our community and it was for us to buy the storage tanks since this water was to been rationed. Thank you GiveDirectly for the transfers I managed to buy the storage tank. This is the biggest difference in my daily life because it has relieved me from going to the river daily because now I can store water."

"I am planning to purchase a water tank in the next few months. Right now we have to trek for quite a distance to go fetch water for domestic use. This is so exhausting considering that so much water is needed everyday. The tank will help us reserve the rain water."

"In the next six months, I would like to improve my house. I would like to cement the floor and furnish it. I have been saving for this for a while now and transfers will help me top up and make my long-time dream come true. I am also planning to buy a water tank. This will enable me to get clean and safe water for my family to drink through harvesting clean water. Buying a water tank will reduce my family's workload since safe water is many miles away. This will enable us to focus on dairy farming hence more income."

"My life is going to be really different in the next six months. By then I will be owning a whole herd of goats that I have been buying monthly since I began receiving the transfers. I am planning to sell these goats to support and pay school fees for my brother who is in college. In the next six months also, I will have saved d enough from the sale of milk and hopefully, the money will be enough for me to get piped water. I have really aspired to get piped water for irrigating my vegetables. My vegetable farming has been greatly affected by drought. Irrigating them, I believe will improve their production."

"I spent my second transfer to build a new house because I had a small grass thatched house which leaked from the roof during rainy seasons and made us feel really uncomfortable because the house became very wet and cold. I am now very happy since I have a big iron roofed house and I no longer get worried when it rains instead I trap rainwater from the gutters I fixed on my roof. I also spent my second transfer to buy a dairy cow which I am optimistic that it will soon start producing milk for our consumption. I always buy milk from my neighbours which is very costly and unreliable for our nutritional needs as a family. Having my own now makes me proud and I believe it will bear more calves and in future, I will also be selling milk to get some income."

"When I received my first transfers, I spent part of it in buying a cow. I opted on this since apart from giving me milk for our daily consumption, I will be able to sell some of them and get some money to use in supporting my children's education. Due to inadequate rainfall in our region, so many seasonal rivers have dried up. This has led to people traveling for long distance on a daily basis looking for water. My family was not an exception to this and it has always made my children spend their evening hours looking for water instead of doing their revision. This prompted me to spare part of my transfers to buy a water tank. With this, I will be leasing a donkey once a week in order to use it to carry more water several times and store them in my tank. People in our region usually buy new clothes during festive seasons. I am glad that my family was never left out since I was able to buy them some new clothes and shoes using some amount from my transfer. Buying maize flour has been my daily routine and it is quite expensive when bought in small quantities. I used the remaining amount to buy three sacks of maize and 30 kg of beans so that it would sustain us until next harvest."
