"Over two years now, our village has been experiencing drought. This led to massive deaths of livestock in our village due to lack of pastures. I have two cows and three goats which are the only source of wealth I have that I have been depending on. However, when drought persisted I lost hope seeing other livestock dying and knew that mine would die any time. Fortunately last year, December we received heavy rainfall for a whole week that salvaged our animals and our lives as. This brought a lot joy and happiness to my heart as my livestock survived."

"The second transfer was beneficial to me in completing some of the projects that I had in the pipeline and wanted to ensure their completion before exhausting the money that I received. 30000 KES from the second transfer aided in the plastering of my floor which was made of mud. The rate at which dust ruined my household and resulted in the respiratory illness of my family members was alarming. Since I did not have the means to raise the plastering materials, I had to put up with the dust. I am glad I was able to purchase the plastering materials and paid for the plastering labor for the floor. Our house is now free from dust. I also bought 2 goats at 8000 KES to add to the ones I had for rearing with a projection of selling some of them to raise money for paying for my household bills. 6500 KES I spent on new furniture for my family and bought corn and other foodstuffs that can push my family for a while the remaining 8000 KES."

"I bought 5 goats for 25000 KES with the second transfer. They are the best source of income, especially in our area due to the climatic conditions. We usually experience long droughts and goats are the best livestock to survive in such. If all goes well then I am hopeful that in the future I can comfortably sell some whenever in need of cash to sort household needs. I recently got married but I had not paid the dowry for my spouse. It is the pride of every man to be fully part of his wife's family and this only happens once she is appreciated by paying for her dowry. I, therefore, used 25000 KES to aid in the dowry payment process."

"I spent part of my first transfer on buying a building materials such as building poles and the ropes KES 5000 and the labor charge of KES 1500. This was for the renovation of my house which had some weak walls with holes all over. It was so stressful especially during the rainy days because we were always infected by cold-related diseases. I also bought goats that I am now keeping in my compound. These will be reliable living assets that I can depend on anytime. I settled for them because they can survive so well in my region. I am also planning to start a business (selling vegetables) in my village. For now, I am jobless and I will be glad to at least engage myself and earn a living. Finally, I have been buying sufficient foodstuffs for my family."

"When I withdrew the money, I opted to do what I promised the officers who came to my home. The first thing I did was buy a cow for KES 16000.00 and three goats for KES 10500.00. The aim of buying these animals was for milk purposes and business respectively. Since goats have a fast birth rate, I choose them for business once they multiply. I also bought a bed and a mattress for KES 15000.00 because the one I had was the traditional one and it was not in s good condition. Thereafter, I used the remaining amount for food."

"I have lived with my 4 grandchildren in my tiny house for the past 5 years. The house is currently in an awful state. The poles I used to build the house are all rotten, and the house is about to fall down. Because of this, I spent much of the transfer to buy iron sheets, poles and nails to build a bigger and strong house to accommodate all the members of my family (me and 4 grandchildren). I also bought a bed and a mattress to ease my health complications that had risen from sleeping on the bare floor in the house. Besides buying the bed and mattress, I also bought 5 goats. I bought the goats as an investment for the future. This will allow me to accumulate wealth that will help in times of need."

"For the last one year, my son has not been feeling well. It's a condition that I have not understood well. I have taken him for several blood tests in some hospitals in town where we were referred. This has affected his studies. I sold one goat for his medication in January and he has now improved a lot. This is what has brought me joy for the last two months. I feel so much relieved."

"I have two children who completed their primary school studies and are set to join secondary school in May. Their results are out and my biggest worry has been how I will get them through their studies. My dream of educating my children beyond primary school can now be a reality because I plan to use 25,000 KES for their admission and tuition fees. I will also invest in goat farming so that it can facilitate their studies in the years to come. I will start with 4 goats which I have approximated to cost 15,000 KES."
