"Before receiving this money, I lived a stressful life because I did not have enough household items especially utensils, Clothes and water drum. I did not have enough land too since we had mortgaged it for some loans. The kind of a house I currently occupy is too small to accommodate us all with the children. Our children are 5 in number and we all occupy one small grass thatched house. My life is now filled with joy because I have managed to clear all my debts and repossessed my land which I now farm on. Seconly, I have started house construction which is spacious enough. I do believe that I could have died without sleeping in a iron roofed house if it wasn't of GD transfers. Therefore, I want to commend GiveDirectly for the awesome things they have done. "

"My life is currently different from how it was four months ago. I managed to plaster my floor using the payments I got from Give Directly. This has brought a change in my life because I now have more time to do other activities. Cleaning a plastered flour takes a very short time and I use less water compared to the mud floor. I also don't have to repair the floor more often. It will take several years before I think of repairing this plastered floor."

"I always wake up as early as 6.00 am to prepare my children for school after which i go to a nearby forest to fetch firewood which i normally sell in a nearby hotel. I spend my afternoons fetching water for sale and by evening i usually feel tired. This is the time i head back home to rest and chat with my children as we share our evening meal. Evening is therefore the happiest part of my day. "

"Spending five hours on the road with a water jerrican on my head is not an easy task. This is so tiresome that I have to rest along the way. Therefore, it means I spend my morning hours looking for water. It is only in the afternoon when I am less busy and I get time to chat with my friends. Their presence makes me happy because of their funny jokes that help me relax my body and mind. This trend has made afternoon the happiest part of my day."

"When I wake up in the morning, I leave to fetch water from a tap that is four kilometers away. When I am back home, I prepare my first meal for the day. In the evening, I feel very happy because, it is at this time when I get much time to talk and share dinner with my grandchildren. Therefore, I consider evening as the happiest part of my day."

"Receiving this money means expanding my small business of selling fried fish. I will make a wooden box for storing them and sell them along Mariakani-Bamba road where there is a wider market. I will also increase my stock because demand will be much higher. With the rest of the cash, I will purchase oxen and an ox plough to upscale my farming. Due to current water shortage, I will also buy a bicycle to assist in ferrying water since we now fetch it from very far places. "

"Receiving this money means I will be able to cater for my family's daily upkeep without having to rely much on my husband so that he can concentrate on more pressing needs such as school fees. I will purchase indigenous dairy cows whose milk I will sell in order to earn some income to buy food and water. I will also buy iron sheets for our house to replace the old ones that leak so much during rainy seasons. "

"In the next six months, I would want to buy household items such as sofa sets, television, and water tank. These are the house items I feel I lack in my house. If I do this, I will be at peace because I will have accomplished my desires."

"My additional goal in the next four months is to buy more plastering materials and plaster my house since I am staying in a very dusty house where I am not comfortable to stay in. I have also been longing to staying in house that you use water while cleaning it but not broomstick a lone."
