"My life as changed since I got to benefit from GiveDirectly's transfers since I have two huge capacity water tanks to the courtesy of GiveDirectly. Today ,I do harvest rainwater in this rainy season that usually went to waste before. This water will reduce the workload especially for my family who used to make several trips to and from the water point, which was quite a distance away, And because the water here is in high demand since its a semi arid area. I intend to sell few litters to my neighbors at a small fee as another source of income hence I am hopeful that these proceeds will boost me in terms of providing for my family ."

"Maintaining a mud-walled house is very costly on the other hand tedious and time-consuming. Then , I always wished to have the walls and floor cemented but since I could not afford to buy the materials I had no option but to persevere this dream because the income I made I had to prioritize on my family's basic needs. I am happy my dream finally come true because many neighbor who believed that I will not manage to plaster my house were astonished . Now I am staying in a nice plastered house I do not fear sitting down on the floor because it is very neat and clean. Back then it was very muddy when it rained as water sipped in the walls in to the floor this was very uncomfortable for me."

"I have started saving the little money I get from my milk business. Thus my new or additional goal is to drill a borehole for easy access to water for both domestic and commercial use. I believe if this will work my children will never struggle again working for a long-distance look for water. I will also get money from selling water to my neighbors and get money to take my children to a good school."

"I have been working part-time as a water vendor and always idle most of the time that I am not working because we work in shifts to allow more youth an opportunity to get some little money, according to my employer. With a lot of time in my hands, I feel that I should engage in something else to generate extra income and it needs to be something I am passionate about such as video gaming. I have thought of opening a video gaming station around my area of residence because most residents here who are mostly idle like passing time in such kinds of places, but the only challenge is raising the amount required to buy the necessary equipment. I have however started saving some little money each month and I hope that I will manage to buy some of them before the end of this project."

Furaha
received a $540 initial payment.
"My husband has been supplying water in the city for a long time using a handcart. This has been our main source of income for some time now. Due to the nature of this job, he couldn't do it on a daily basis, because his health condition wouldn't allow. However, when I received this transfer, I invested KES 19000 to open a business of selling charcoal. It is doing well so far since it is the cheapest alternative source of energy. I bought enough stock that will last for a longer period of time. I feel good because my husband will work no longer strain again. I am also assured of getting a better income which will help us to effectively fulfil our household basic needs. To me, achieving all this is the biggest difference in my daily life."
