Vivian
received a $253 second payment.
"The biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer is that I have been able to build a spacious house for my family in the piece of land that we recently bought. Due to this, I no longer walk for a long distance looking for water or going to the shop since I now live near the water pan and also close to the main road. Being able to relocate to this place has also given me more land to cultivate. Before relocating to this place, we were living in a nine points land and we had used two points as our compound. Relocating has enabled us to fully utilize the nine points of land on farming."

received a $528 second payment.
"Without the transfers, I wouldn't have built a house! we used to stay in a mud-walled and flour and grass-thatched house that used to be so terrible and leaky during the rainy season. In fact, the floor of the house would sometime be filled by water from the ground due to too much rain. I was able to build two decent houses; one kitchen and a sitting room. I no longer worry now about leaking roofs and cold. I am also happy that we had enough food for my family."

"The biggest hardship I have faced in my life if severe drought. I am living in an ASAL area which is rocky and crops and animals feeds hardly grow. Water pans usually dry up and we are forced to take our livestock more than ten kilometres away to look for water and pasture. This usually leads to death of animals along the way thus our source of income is jeopardized."

Edida
received a $471 initial payment.
"The biggest difference in my life is that, I acquired a bicycle for collecting water from the borehole. Previously, I suffered from back and chest pain because of carrying heavy things for a long distance like jerrycans. In addition, I bought building materials for my permanent house as well as for renovating my leaking thatched house which I currently occupy. Hopefully in the next five days I will be sleeping in a better structure."

"The biggest difference in my life is that I now have a stable reliable source of Income. I managed to buy a dairy cow and fortunately it has started producing milk. We are able to at least meet our daily needs. I also now have enough comfortable seats to sit on, my family members no longer sit on water container any more."

"Buying a 5000 litre water tank at $350 for harvesting water during rainy seasons is what receiving this money means to me. With this we will no longer have to depend on dirty and contaminated water from the open water pans that we usually rely on hence improved health care on our side. I will also spend part of the remaining transfer to build a modern poultry unit as well as buy chicks and mature chicken for rearing which will earn me some income from selling the chicken products."
