"My life is currently different because bought a water tank. I used to fetch water from a water pond about 3 kilometers away from home. The water was not safe for drinking and could easily affect the health of my children. I am sure the rainwater I collect in the tank is much safer in addition to the trouble it saved me from the hectic process of fetching from the community pond."

"I spent part of my second transfer to buy some building material to use in building a spacious house for my family that can accommodate us comfortably. I have been living in a small grass-thatched house that could not accommodate us comfortably. Building an iron sheet roofed house will enable us to collect rainwater for domestic use. Also, I spent some amount to buy two sacks of maize and also to cater for its transport and that of the building materials. I still have some amount that I am planning to use in paying the mason and in case of an emergency."

"Upon receiving the transfer fro GiveDirectly, I decided to spent the first 40000 KES on buying livestock. A cow was a priority since we had been buying ilk for quite sometimes and we needed to be milking from our own cow to reduce the expenses. We also considered buying a donkey which is the chief means of transportation in our village. Fetching water fro the dams which are way to far from home has not been that easy but with the donkey we are now doing it with a lot of ease. We also spent some money on foodstuff and also clothing for our children and finally managed to put some in our saving account t serve as contingencies."

"Upon receiving the transfer fro GiveDirectly, I had a lot in mind lined up and all needed to bed done with the amount I received. I had to prioritize the construction of a new house after demolishing the old one since it was already leaking on the roof. Being a rainy season, nothing better would have happened to my family members that a good roof above their heads. I bought iron sheets, woods, nails, and also paid a constructor who worked on the construction within a very short period of time. Currently we are feeling good, living in a pacious house with improved hygine since we no longer experience muddy floors due to the leaking water as we used to experience before. Apart from the good house which we have constructed, we also spent a better part of the transfer on buying foodstuff. We are now fully equiped with everything we needed and all we can do now is to work hard in our farms to replenish the stores."

"The biggest difference in my daily life is that I bought a water tank. I am using this tank to collect rainwater on my roof for domestic use. Before this, I used to have my family members making trips down a steep hill to the spring to fetch it. I was time-consuming and also strenuous. Everyone in my family is happy that we now have water right in the compound."

"My life is different from how it was in that, I have made a milestone in terms of development i.e having bought a 3000 liters capacity water tank, and a wall unit. The money that I currently get is channeled into other important matters. This would have taken me ages to see it come to pass were it not for GiveDirectly."

"Late last year, I obtained a water tank on credit which I repay every month with part of the transfers which I received from Give Directly. In the last four months, I haven't been spending too much time fetching water from a river miles away from home. Nowadays when I am through with the farming activities I just walk to the water tap at my doorstep."

"In the last two months, I received Merry-go-round collection from a savings plan which we started after receiving transfers from Give Directly. these collections enabled me to purchase a water tank. Now I have 25000 litters installed in my doorstep. I made this sacrifice so that I would have sufficient space to store rainwater. Now have one more extra tank means a lot to me as I use to struggle a lot during dry season fetching water from a stream which is far from my homestead."

"Due to unpredictable rainfall patterns in this region, prolonged droughts often lead to walking long distances in search of water for domestic use which is so tiresome and health risking, which is the biggest hardship we face."
