Beatrice
received a $519 initial payment.
"Purchasing a water tank has saved my family from spending a lot of money on water that is being sold at a very expensive price by the water vendors within our community. It has also saved us from walking long distances to fetch the water which was very hectic. This tank has also made it possible for my family to start a water vending business because now that we have a place to store the water, we can finally have piped water in our compound."

Eunice
received a $519 initial payment.
"The biggest difference in my daily life since is the house which I managed to construct with the aid which I received from Give Directly. The house has brought a lot of benefits to my life. One being a source of water catchment. The water harvested from the roof of my house has enabled me to get clean water for drinking and for domestic use at home. Before, I would go to my neighbours home to fetch some water for drinking from their water tank. At times, I would be turned away and this would be so frustrating to me. Now am so happy that I got a ironed roofed house and I get to collect water which I store for use and drinking."

Caren
received a $519 initial payment.
"Before we received the transfer, my family had a very big water problem as we live very far away from the nearest water source. It was hectic fetching the water so we limited water use in the house which of course affected the general cleanliness of the house. The water itself was also not very safe because we fetched it from the river that the entire community uses, both human and livestock therefore my children were prone to waterborne diseases. When we received the transfer, we purchased a water tank that we are now using to harvest rain water. This tank has brought a very big difference in my family's life. We have not been to the river since the rainy season began therefore no more back pains from carrying a heavy jerrican for a long distance, no more limiting water usage in the house which was previously a determinant of how frequent we had a bath and also having safer water for cooking and drinking. I am grateful to GiveDirectly for saving my family from the effects of depending on the river-water."

Charo
received a $519 initial payment.
"I spent part of my first transfer on buying some building materials such as iron sheets, nails, timber, building poles, and threads. This was for the completion of my new house which I had started constructing some months back but then I was forced to stop because of insufficient funds. I then bought some livestock such as seven goats as my living assets that I can lean on in case of any financial crisis. In addition, I bought a bicycle that would help me especially in fetching water from the dam since its very far from the village. I also hired someone to prepare my farm because it was the planting season. The remaining amount of money, I am using it in buying enough foodstuffs for my family."

Jonah
received a $21 twenty-seventh payment.
"My next goal is to buy a water tank. This is going to be a plastic water tank that I will use to store rainwater. Water access in my village is difficult since I live on top of a rocky hill. The nearest water point is downhill which makes it very difficult."

Hillary
received a $21 twenty-sixth payment.
"In the next six months, I will have bought livestock to keep. I will use the money from my merry go round group to buy some cattle. I will buy some oxen that I will rear, grazing them in the nearby Mau forest where there is plenty of water and grass. They will have sufficient forage and grow quickly. I hope to be able to sell the cattle in the future and use the money to buy more land. Having more farmland that I will grow tea will give me a good income."

Dama
received a $500 second payment.
"I spent part of my second transfer on buying some livestock such as ten goats. These are currently the living assets that I will always lean on just in case of any financial difficulties. I also bought some beddings such as a mattress and a bed because the previous I was using the old traditional beds made of ropes. I then bought a small water tank and some jerricans. The remaining amount of money I am using it in buying enough foodstuffs fr my family and some other household items."

Jackline
received a $502 second payment.
"Before I received these transfers, my children had a difficult time studying and doing their homework. I did not have chairs and a table where they could sit and do their work comfortably and they were forced to use water containers in place of a chair and a table. I am glad that they can now study well after I bought some chairs and a table. In fact, they even enjoy doing their work more than before. I do not need to force them to do this as I used to. I am also glad that I have some livestock on my farm, something I never dreamt of owning. My meagre daily wages would have never made it possible for me to buy them since most of the money I would earn would go into the daily needs. I am so grateful for GiveDirectly."

Jumwa
received a $502 second payment.
"I have been longing to sleep in a better house for years but then I did not have the required materials for the construction of the house. Therefore after receiving my transfers, I settled in renovating my house. I am now a happy parent because Inmabed to renovate it and I do not have to worry about the rains and I can also harvest the rainwater for my family. To add on this I am now sleeping comfortably on a new mattress whereby previously I was using the old which was not comfortable and led to some backpains. The two achievements make the difference in my life that I can proudly talk of."

"My life is different than it would have been if I never received the transfer in that I would not have been in a position to build a house and buy a water tank for storing clean water for domestic use."
