"It has always been my desire to own livestock like chicken and goats but my income sources and financial obligations weighed me down. Having an opportunity to actualize this goal through the first transfer is the greatest accomplishment ever. I now own a hen that will continue to multiply and grow the flock. In future, I intend to trade some of the chickens for a goat. This bird will be my personal investment that will help generate funds in times of need."

"Supporting the education of my 3 children has been my biggest desire. This is because I am illiterate and I had put a lot of hope on my kids to transform our living standards through quality education. Currently, they are in primary school and I spent KES 13,000 to clear their fee arrears. Most of the time they were always sent home for fee balances something that break my heart. I also bought 16 iron sheets, which were to finish off the construction of my house that I had started two years ago but failed to complete due to insufficient finances. In addition, I used KES 8,000 to purchase proper beddings for my family since were using the traditional beddings which were uncomfortable. Lastly, I spent KES 12,000 on boosting my livestock rearing by purchasing 3 more goats. With the remaining amount, I bought sufficient food for the family because we are experiencing food shortages in our area due to the drought conditions."

"When i finally received the transfers, I went on to purchase a goat since the owner was selling it at a throw away price because it seemed to urgently need the money to pay school fees for his children. I ended up purchasing the goat at KES 1,000 since I also wanted to have more farm animals and now I happen to own three goats. Lastly I used the remaining KES 2,000 and paid tuition fee for two of my children. One happens to be in his last year of high-school while the other is pursuing a course in tailoring."

"I decided to use the funds sent by the organization to purchase a goat for KES 2,000 which finally made my small herd accumulate to half a dozen. I plan to keep on investing yo buy farm animals because after they reproduce, it will give me the opportunity to offer them up for the market and benefit financially. As for the rest of the transfers I decided to use KES 500 and bought two packets of maize flour and sardines since there was hardly any food left in the house . Then I took the rest which was KES 500 by storing it in my savings account because I planned on doing a small course of learning how to be a mechanic but since I did not have all the funds needed I opted to gradually begin saving up for it so that I could equip myself with a skill that would help me in the long run."

"When I received my transfers I immediately went ahead to purchase a goat because I have wanted to one for sometime now to add to my herd. This is because I an farmer and on most occasions livestock come in handy during times of financial difficulty since one could always sell and cater to that need. So I bought the goat at KES 1,000 because I hoping that it can help me financially after it breeds because I have five children who are still in school and always in need of stationery and tuition fee. I ended up using KES 1,000 from the balance by purchasing five packets of maize flour since there was hardly any food in thr house. As for the KES 200 that remained, I happened to own a small business where I sold sardines from home so I ended up using that money to get more sardines for sell."

"As soon as I received the cash transfer, I opted to go ahead and look into nutrition and this is because drought had ensured that we had poor harvest which we happened to rely on for our day to day meals and not forgettingto mention that the cost of living had gone extremely high. So when I got the money I went ahead and bought five packets of maize flour using KES 1,000. I also bought a goat, which the owner happened to be selling at a throw away price of KES 1,000 since he seemed to urgently need the money. Lastly I used the balance of KES 1,000 and paid tuition fee for my two children since they had been home for a week now without attending school."

"I earn a living as a casual laborer selling charcoal. Selling charcoal is tedious and from it I earn very little (KES 300 per bag). The demand for charcoal is very low, and it takes long before I sell any bag of charcoal). I often sleep hungry, especially when I cannot make any sales. The increase in essential food commodities has added more suffering because I can no longer afford to buy food. When I received my first transfer, I bought food worth KES 1000. Three packets of 2 kg maize flour, 2 kg of beans, ½ kg sugar and washing detergent. I saved KES 2000 to buy a goat. I want to venture into rearing of livestock and earn a living. This will ensure I become financially stable and able to support my family."

"After withdrawing the money, the first thing I did was renovating my house. I bought some building blocks and sand and constructed some pillars to my house to make it firm. This is because, the foundation of the house was not strong thus feared it may collapse during the rainy and windy seasons. I also bought 2 goats at KES 5000.00 each. For a while, I had been surviving without a toilet at home which was a shameful thing. I used to visit the nearby bushes when nature calls. Therefore, I opted to construct a toilet so that I could prevent my family and I from diseases. For the remaining amount, I bought some food for the family."
