"I have wished to purchase a 10,000 litre water storage tank costing approximately KSH 20000 to 30000 Shillings. This is because I have to travel about 2 kilometres everyday to fetch drinking water from a community school tank. Receiving this money therefore is a big boost for me because I will not only buy a water storage tank but I will also be able to buy a barbed wire so that I can fence my farm."

"My life is now different than how it would have been because I am now hopeful and happier. Through the transfers, I managed to purchase 2 pairs of oxen and three dairy cows. These have been the well thoughtful living assets that I have been yearning to keep in my compound but becasue of my low income, I couldn't afford them. Currently, I hired one of the pair of oxen to my neighbors ata a fee and generate an income. With the other pair, it has been of great help to me becasue I no longer use my hands in ploughing my farm. Also, I am now preparing the farm in time and this assures me if harvesting a lot Apart from that, the oxen have been of great support in fetching water from the dam, I non longer use my hands to carry the jerricans like before. To add to that, the dairy cows are now providing me with milk that is for my family's consumption and commercial purposes."

"My life is no different than how it would have been because I managed to start a kiosk business which I am now solely depending on it for my daily bread. Before then I used to be a casual laborer and the little I could earn was too little for my family's upkeep. Currently, life has been so smooth because the business is doing so well with fruitful returns. Also, the fact that I managed to complete my house brought peace in my life and I consider myself blessed. Also, the bicycle that I purchased has made my life easier becasue it was so tiresome carrying the water using my own hands not forgetting the distance."

"I utilized 250 USD of my second transfer on refurbishing my van that I usually hire out to a local school. I had exhausted all the savings I had made due to the adverse financial impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic. So, I was worried about where to get money for such necessary refurbishment and repairs. Also, we bought some furniture at about 180 USD since the ones we had were of poor quality. Still, we acquired a water tank worth 35 USD for storing rainwater that would be used when the piped water goes missing. At times we could face an acute shortage of clean water when the piped water goes missing for weeks. Finally, we bought some food items with the remaining amount to allow us make some savings to be used for any arising financial demands. We usually used most of our income on purchasing foodstuffs because crops no longer do well in our area due to the rise in tropical diseases and the effects of climate change."

"My life is currently different than how it would have been had I not receive the transfer because I now live in an iron roofed house. "During heavy rains in this area, water usually accumulates underground and then seeps in through the surface especially in areas that are sloppy or near the river.Unfortunately for me,this is where my house sits and I have had this problem for so many years.Sometimes the house is fully flooded and I have to seek shelter in neighbour's houses.I had planned to plaster the floor but I fell ill and with the high costs of treatment,I could not go beyond collecting materials. Receiving this money means that I will finally be able to complete this and get over my perennial problem. This will cost around Sh 20,000.I would also like to replace the livestock I sold to cater for my treatment and I think this is a very good opportunity to do this.I will use the remainder of my transfers for this."

"I spend the money I received from GiveDirectly to buy a Dairy cow. I used to buy milk from my neighbors and it's so costly for me because I do not have a continuous source of income. I also bought a water tank for storing clear water for drinking and also for domestic use. Finally I bought food for the family because we don't have enough in store during that time. I am so grateful for the support because GiveDirectly has changed our living standard to be better."
