"I start my day with preparing my children for school. Thereafter, I look for water for my home use. In the mid-morning, I embark on looking for casual jobs around, mostly hawking water for a pay. So, evening is the happiest part of my day because it's at this time that I rest, and also bless my children with food from the little earnings made during the day."

"My home is made up of a small grass thatched hut and a two roomed house made of iron sheets. The grass thatched hut has become very expensive to keep in good shape. Regular repairs requires me to find good thathching grass. This material is not easily available. On top of buying it, the cost of transport is quite high. Being that I rely on subsistence farming, I don't get enough money for all these repairs. But on receiving this money, I will spent about 500 USD to complete it. I will also buy a water tank so that I collect rain water for use in the household."

"We're small-scale farmers depending heavily on farm produce. Currently, we use handmade equipment to irrigate our crops which is hectic and time-consuming. With this money, I plan to purchase a water pump that will make my farming more efficient and improve my farming. This water pump will cost me Ksh 30,00. The remaining amount I plan to purchase is a dairy cow, since the cow I had, died of sickness a year ago, therefore I have been purchasing milk costing me Ksh 1050 per month. Receiving means a better livelihood for my family. This will cost me 40,000."

"I gave birth to my beautiful daughter in 2013, who happens to be my last born. For all the previous deliveries, all has been well. However, for my daughter, it has been a different story. I had a prolonged labour pain, got induced to no vain. The doctors said it's a false labour and even allowed me to return home. No sooner had I boarded a motorcycle than I break the water. I had to be helped by the nurses and by the time I was delivering, my daughter had sniffed much of the smell from the green water. My daughter was taken to a baby care and was finally diagnosed with meconium. Up-to-date, she still suffers the same problem. Being jobless with my husband, I cannot afford to take her for further medical tests and treatment. My daughter's suffering has been the biggest hardship I have ever faced in my life."

"The biggest hardship we have faced is the frequent droughts we experience in our area. As a subsistence farmer, I would like to irrigate my farms during the dry seasons. Unfortunately, I have never afforded to acquire the necessary equipment for storing water and irrigating my farms. As such, droughts have been destroying our crops, making it difficult for us to survive, meet our financial and food demands."

"For a long time, I have wanted to build a house with an iron sheets roof. This will enable us to collect rainwater and also reduces the burden for my wife going to fetch water over long distances and also I can save at least Sh 600 a month which I always use to buy water.I have also sold most of my livestock to gather for my kids school fees .Therefore this transfer will help me acquire some other cattle and hence I can sell their young ones in future for my kids fee again."

"My day starts very early in the morning mostly at 6:00 am, where I prepare my children for school. Thereafter, I do some household chores like fetching water and cooking. When it reaches in the evening, I usually feel exhausted but it is at this time when I get ample time to rest. The resting re-energizes me most for the next day's activities and hence, I consider the evening being the happiest part of my day."

"We live in a semi-arid area and for the longest time water for use has been a problem to us ,we go for long distance to fetch water especially when there is drought.I am a livestock farmer and they need enough water in order to produce enough milk.It means that when there is no water i get few litres of milk to sell hence will not be enough to purchase food and pay school fees for my two children in secondary school.I want to buy a 3000 litres tanks worth $300 to secure rain water and divide the grazing area into four using 4 barbed wires at $500 each this will ensure i have enough pasture for the cows. The rest of the money i will pay school fees for my children."

"Water shortage has been a persistent problem in our area especially during the dry season. Receiving this money means that I will be able to finish constructing a water tank;a project that I had started sometimes back. This is together with placing water gutters which will collect water to the tank during the rainy season. This will cost me approximately 150 USD. This will provide me and my family water for domestic use during the dry season which is usually very long. The remaining part of my first transfer will help me educate my children. I have one child in secondary school and another awaiting to join a hair dressing college."

"The area that I live has scarce water. We buy water for use from a water vendor for at an average of 500 shillings a month which is costly. The cause of us buying water is because we receive less rainfall. I will use this money to buy a water tank at a cost of 22,000 shillings to help me store rainwater and reduce the cost of buying water. I will also buy a cow at a cost of 30,000 shillings for milk, improve my house by buying seats and the remaining amount used to stock cereals."
