"The happiest part of my day is in the evening. This is because I spend my morning hours working on our one acre of land where we have grown maize and at the same time looking after other people's livestock within the village. I spend the rest of the afternoon looking after the livestock and taking them to the river for water. After taking back the livestock in the evening, I am given some milk as an appreciation. Going back home with some milk for my family in the evening is the happiest part of my day. This shows my children will not go to bed empty stomach."

"Receiving this money means access to education for my children. I am a divorced woman with a family of eight children. All of them look up to me to meet their basic needs. I depend on casual jobs like washing other people's clothes to earn an income which is less that $ 3 a day. Seven of the eight children need to attend school but currently they are home due to lack of school fees. I have tried my best to help them attend school, but the income I get is not sufficient to make this happen. All I get is spent on food and water. I intend to use the first cash transfer to clear school fees for my seven children, then use the remaining amount of money to buy food. I will then use the second cash transfer to build a house that will cost $200. I will then use the remaining amount of money to buy goats to keep as an investment for my children education."

"The biggest difference in my daily life is the availability of enough water in the recently installed water tank. This has facilitated a lot in that the clean water from the roof is useful not only for the livestock but also in laundry and other household cleaning activities. This has finally stopped the expenses of buying extra pots from the water vendors as I have even excess currently as it has been raining."

"Getting this money to me mean that i will be able to clear school fees for my child who is in secondary school. The school owes me 170 dollars. I also have a grass thatched house which i use as kitchen. Its leaking when it rains. Sometimes its even hard to cook. I want to construct a iron roofed house which will cost around 150 dollars. I also have a problem with water. Our source of water is the river which is far from my house and the water is not safe for drinking. We have tapped water and i would like to change to my house. This will enable me to get water for household use and even use for farming. Our area is prone to drought. So when i get this water i can do irrigation in my farm."

"My land is low land .It floods alot when it rains ,crops hardly grow and nearly all the land is unproductive. When it rains it gets logged and the water enters even to my house . It is also breeds mosquitoes and snails that can cause malaria and waterborne diseases respectively. Intend to buy a land elsewhere when I can settle. My plan is to buy 0.2 acres at a cost of USD 600. The rest of the money will go towards building a house in the said land."

"My day is occupied with many household chores like fetching water, cooking for the family as well as doing my charcoal work. This means I spend the better part of my day doing very tiresome activities that leave me tired when it reaches the evening. Again, it is in the evening when I find myself relaxed since I get ample time to rest. The resting re-energizes me most for the next day's activities and this makes it the happiest part of my day."

"My biggest plan, for now, is to renovate my current house which the roof is leaking making it very uncomfortable to live in. The house is old and since the roofing is old, I cannot harvest rainwater. This will cost me 50 dollars. For the remaining amount, I'll purchase a water tank since the one I have is small, it cannot store enough water for domestic use and farm use. This will also cost me 30 dollars."

"My life is different than how it would have been if I never received the transfer in that I was in a position to connect clean tap water. I used to walk for long distances to collect water for domestic use. This was taking much of my time which I could have used in doing my daily activities. we were also being exposed to water-related diseases because we were drinking dirty water. The waterborne related disease is so expensive to cure. My children could spend their free time collecting water. When I received the second transfer I found it wise to purchase pipes and connect the tap water. This has eased my work. Currently, I no longer walk for long distances to collect clean water. i have saved much time to do my other daily chores. My children also have enough time to do their assignments. I am so much grateful for the support because we are living a better life compared to when we had not received the transfer."

"The biggest hardship I have faced in my life is lack of a reliable source of income to meet my family's basic necessities of life such as food , education, water and a decent shelter. I am really struggling to raise my two daughters. Sometimes I even lack money to pay for their school fees and they end up missing important sessions with their teachers in school."
