Wilson
received a $142 initial payment.
"The first transfer arrived at a time when I had already outlined my spending priorities. My compound was constantly invaded by neighboring livestock, leaving droppings on my veranda, especially during rainy days, so I knew it was time for a change. I decided to purchase three chain links, each costing $27. With the existing poles in place, I am delighted to have a lockable gate that effectively keeps the intrusive animals away, only granting access to authorized individuals. I also purchased 10 kg of dry maize grains for $9 and 5 kg of beans for $10, ensuring I had enough food to sustain myself since I live alone. Additionally, I spent $35 on repairing my motorcycle, focusing on replacing the rear wheel dampers. I am thrilled that the repairs were successful, enabling me to provide water transport services upon request, generating a daily income of at least $5. Moreover, I gave my wardrobe a much-needed facelift. I invested $13 in two pairs of trousers and $7 in two new shirts, replacing my worn-out and tattered clothing. This boosted my sense of confidence and ensured I had presentable attire for various occasions. I set aside the remaining amount to cover fuel expenses and weekly repairs, further enhancing my transportation business. This strategic decision has allowed me to expand my services and cater to the needs of the community more effectively."

"The greatest challenge I'm facing which is making my life very hard is climate change. In the past three months, I have replanted my farm twice since rain is unpredictable and now my farm is bare. This is financially straining for me because I used money to plant and yet all crops wilted and died eventually. Climate change has made it difficult for me to provide food for my family since for the past three years we have not been able to harvest anything from our farms. This has made my life very difficult since buying food is costly and yet I don't have a constant source of income."

"I am currently working on saving money to buy a motorcycle, which I intend to use as a taxi. By August, I expect to have saved enough for the initial deposit and fuel expenses, at which point I plan to purchase the motorcycle on hire purchase. Hopefully, I will be able to pay off the loan within a year. After that, I will start making further plans."

Charo
received a $25 tenth payment.
"My main goal is to own a motorbike. I am currently employed as a motorcycle rider by one of the neighbors and with the income I get from the business, we have to divide with my employer. It had always been my dream to have my own motorcycle so that I fully fend for my family, but I had never been lucky to get enough money. I had been saving $30 of my monthly transfers towards achieving this goal and I believe that by mid-next year, I would be a proud owner of a motorbike courtesy of GibveDireclty. I would also want to venture into livestock rearing. and I would ensure that I spend $4 every month to buy at least one chick to add to the ones that I already have."

Joseph
received a $142 initial payment.
"To me, I notice a shift within myself; the need to have money with me at all times so that I can buy food on a daily basis has subsided, and I am relieved. I would plunge into deep thoughts every day and perhaps lose it all if all of these challenges continued, and as a pastor of the community, we have been praying for aid, and I can confidently state that the Lord has answered us through GiveDirectly."

Navious
received a $143 initial payment.
"I work as a casual laborer at a construction site, which requires a lot of energy to carry around the heavy activities, and hunger was one of the reasons my day was disrupted after my employer saw me weak and feeble due to not eating well and decided to have me not work until I regained my strength. Immediately after I received the transfers, I went straight to the food store and purchased food worth $100 to last us a couple of days. I am also looking forward to raising goats, and the first thing I needed to do was find a place for them where they could sleep, so I purchased a $50 chain link fence for the area where I wanted the goats to sleep. Finally, I have a motorcycle, which I use to generate income whenever I do not have any work for the day. I have not serviced it for a while now, and this took $50 to be done. The future looks hopeful now that things are in place to make ends meet and make this place a better place to live, and I am pleased."

received a $25 tenth payment.
"The transfer that I received from GiveDirectly was of great help. I was previously doing the business of motorcycle riding in order to generate income for my family, but currently, I no longer operate in the business, getting money had been quite a nightmare a situation that forces me to look for odd jobs in the construction sites, but the situation had never been better and my wife on the other hand does also not have any income-generating activity. With the tough situation, 4 of my children were sent home to collect school fees since they still had some pending balances, but luckily GiveDirectly came to my rescue and with the transfers that I received, I managed to pay school fees worth $24 and bought food with the remaining amount of $10.70 and I was happy because my children got a chance to carry on with their studies."

My aim is to increase this animals further which means I will be able to become fully sufficient as animals make a profit always."
