Moses
received a $22 sixteenth payment.
"My next goal is to fence my compound. I have always had issues with my neighbors over the past few years. It always feels bad when someone's chicken and cattle raid your farm and destroy all the crops. I used to feel bad but later realized that I was part of that problem. I am hopeful that fencing my home will be part of the solution."

Brenda
received a $22 sixteenth payment.
"Four months ago, I acquired a lot of chickens that provided me with a daily income from the eggs that I collected and sold. I used the constant income to buy food for the household and even boost my savings in a merry go round group. Unlike before, I was able to meet my families needs. Previously, during famine like the one that just ended, my children would sometimes go to bed hungry, This did not happen this time t because of the transfer."

Judy
received a $523 second payment.
"When I received the second transfer I was very happy that the ideas I was having in mind will come to pass. I decided to establish a poultry project where I started by constructing a
chicken coop which cost me 4000 KES. I purchased six hens all at the laying stage. I have been eager to start this project since with the other members of the village who have started, it is a really profitable project which will always generate income even when other sources are not. Selling of eggs and even chickens will be one way of settling bills.
Since we constructed our new house, we have been hoping to change a lot of old things and bring in new ones. I opted to spend part of the transfers in purchasing utensil. We also needed better furniture and I decided to purchase five plastic chairs. I will be taking one of the chairs as a present to the church leaving four to be used in the household.
After all those expenses, I was still able to save 31000 KES as I await my husband to come back from the job place so that we use in the project which we had discussed earlier. We had a plan to purchase two cows which we'll the rear to a point where we will sell towards purchasing a piece of land. I am hopeful that all will be well as we plan ahead and with all these, we expect a better future in our household. thank you GiveDirectly."

Ann
received a $22 sixteenth payment.
"My life is currently differentt in that I am now financially able and can afford most of the basic needs that I could not afford initially. I was able to start a poultry project using the transfer received from Give Directly. I first started by buying a few chicks. I would always buy more chicks whenever I get the monthly transfer. The chicken house was not a problem because there was an idle structure within the compound that came in handy. I am planning to add more chicken because the business generates good profits. I believe when I add more I will get more profits."

Kahindi
enrolled.
"Considering my education level as a form four leaver, I expected to have a decent job but due to financial instability, my hope has been in vain. I am forced to depend on subsistence farming, an activity that is not reliable in our area because of the unpredictable weather conditions. Receiving this money means changing my life for the better. I plan to start poultry farming within the village and this will enable me to supply chicken to our nearby market. I will also spend part of my transfers in buying oxen and ox-plough in order to upscale my farming, and the remaining amount will support my children's education."

Dominik

"I expect my life to change over the next six months in that I shall improved my poultry keeping project. I just started this project recently and I have not been able to reap any profits from it. I want to use the monthly transfers to improve on the stock, build a poultry house and buy feeds for the chicken. This project shall definitely bring forth a difference in my life and be a gateway to initiating other new and bigger projects."
