"The biggest difference is in the newly built house. The house I can say is a great breakthrough for us as a family. We have moved from a very small grass thatched house to a bigger and better iron roofed house and I can't thank God enough for this. I look forward to receiving the second transfer and be in a position to buy a water tank that will enable me collect clean drinking water. Visiting the river over long distances will now be a thing of the past and it Will definitely give me peace of mind. ."

"I used the transfer to buy 2 bags of cement for constructing my house. My house collapsed last year and I am now rebuilding it. I had to put iron sheets on the roof and on the floor due to the damage. Hence, I decided to build a new house. The whole transfer went into construction as I bought cement, paid the workers with it as well as buy water that was used at the construction site."

"My two sons have been a helping hand. Despite them doing a casual job in a hotel they have managed to build for me a new iron-roofed house. I can now sleep warmly at night and access clean water for drinking. This has brought joy and happiness into my life because my previous house was cold during the night which worsen my health condition."

"The biggest difference in my daily life is the feeling of happiness which comes with some peace of mind. In as much as I have not renovated the house yet, I am sure I will work on it soon. The biggest elephant in the house which was raising money for the plastering materials has been solved and everything is in place. I can not wait to have the house fully worked on. This will save us the energy and stress of finding a way to channel flooded water out of the house whenever it rains. My household will be safe too because plastering will make the walls stronger."

"I had really wanted to attain financial independence. I used to sell water to the local school from my home. I would ride my bicycle with the water all the way to school and take the water then get back home as it was my only source of money. I used to get 400 shillings a day for the water which would most times be paid at the end of the month or even after a couple of months. This would really put a strain on my family. I was not able to provide food sufficiently for my family. I wanted to begin a boda boda business which would help me make money even when the school hadnt paid me. I also wanted to get cows for milk since buying milk is a good business and i felt I would greatly profit from it."

"I am so happy right now for being enrolled in this program because this is a life-changing award. It has been my wish that I build my family a good house but I have not been able to do that that because I have no income at all. I survive on casual jobs around the village which usually is enough to buy us food only. This grass-thatched house that I am currently living in has a leaky roof and we would like to change that. My 2-month-old baby keeps catching cold because of the housing conditions. I shall therefore use these transfers to build an iron sheet roofed house and this will have additional benefits also because we shall be able to collect rainwater off the roof for our household use."

"Proper housing is one of the basic fundamental human rights. For decades, I have lived in a dilapidated house because I have prioritized my children's education. I plan to use KES 70,000 to erect pillars to support my weak structure and renovated its falling roof. I would also use KES 13,000 to install a tap and KES 20,000 for the purchase of a water tank. The tank will serve as a reservoir to curb perpetually water shortages in the village."
