"Being healthy with my family is something that I can not take for granted. I have been enjoying good health despite the hardship of food insecurity plus the lack of clean water that we are currently experiencing in our area. Therefore, this is what has brought joy to my life."

"Receiving this money means a bright future to my son who is now in form one. In most cases, he has been sent home due to a lack of school fees and since I do not have a reliable source of income, it usually takes him time before he returns to school because I majorly depend on his 3 brothers who are vending water in Mombasa. This means his performance has always been low something that has discouraged me a lot. I am now confident to know that, he will soon be settled in school when I start receiving the cash grant because I will be able to pay his fees, courtesy of GiveDirectly."

"My area is prone to drought and whenever it strikes we have a water shortage and feed for livestock. So when I get this money I will dig a big dam that will collect water enough to last the drought season. To dig it I need around KES 50000 and the remaining amount I will spend on planting dairy feeds like Napier grass. With water and food availability my cows can yield more milk which will generate income and also for household use since Milk contains vital nutrients for the development of children."

"Lack of water for domestic consumption and for livestock is the biggest challenge I am facing. Currently, one 20 litre jerrican of water goes for 50KES. My family's water consumption stands at five 20Litre jerricans of water a day while my livestock water consumption stands at seven 20 litre jerricans of water a day. That means I am forced to spend 650KES daily on water forget about other needs such as food and clothing. This has posed a great threat to my livestock and I'm worried they might die any day from now."

"Getting water in my village has been a miracle. Imagine walking for more than 6 hours a day only to come back home with a 20litre jerrican of water. That is the current situation in the village. Water has been scarce. My family members are forced to skip taking birth for up to 2 days because of lack of water for domestic consumption. Walking for the long hours has made me weak to an extent I really struggle doing my household chores."

"The current drought has made life very difficult, getting food on the farms and water in the streams has become history to my family. These transfers will enable me to buy food and pay someone to help me fetch water without having to walk 2 hours to fetch water with a small baby on my back. Food and water are my first priory until my husband gets a stable job because currently, he depends on casual jobs that are rare to come by."

"Getting food and water during this time has become a nightmare for my family. I walk for two and half hours every day to fetch water on an empty stomach, this also affects my child who depends on breast milk because when I don't eat means my daughter will also not be able to feed well."

"I have two sons and providing them the opportunity to start attending school at an early age has been something that I wished for daily. In addition, l wanted to plaster my house and paint both the interior and exterior parts. This will make the house to last longer because the paint will prevent water (rain) from soaking the walls. It will also make the house very attractive and more comfortable for living. Therefore, with this transfer from GiveDirectly, ill buy five(5) bags of cement and three (3) gallons of paint to plaster and paint my house."

"In my own opinion, from the beginning of this program up to present Givedirectly has been transparent in their selection.Firstly i was informed about their ground rules and regulations which i see as a good standard for transparent distribution of cash.Givedirectly did good by giving me money, phone, along with a sim card. Givedirectly staff talk to me nicely. They ecourage me to do good things with the money they give me that'll improve my children future. Those things that Givedirectly did that i felt was never good at all,Givedirectly don't even drink water from us neither accept our offers which brings saddness to me. at least good should pay for good."
