"When I got the money, I opted to invest it in livestock. This is because one can sell and get some money from the livestock. Basing on that, I bought four goats for KES 19700 and a cow for KES 18500. The goats are for emergencies incase am stuck I will sell to get some money and the cow is for milk purposes. For a while, I have been buying some milk for my children which is very expensive. But once my cow gives birth, my family will have enough milk. Thereafter, I opted to save to the remaining amount so that my family could have something to use. Unfortunately, one of my grandchildren fall from a tree and I supported his medical bill by contributing KES 1500. A current he is doing well."

"The biggest difference in my daily life is that I now have livestock ( a dairy cow and goats) that I am keeping in my compound. For so many years, I have been dreaming of owning them but because of financial constraints, this has never been achievable. These will now be the only assets that I can lean on in case of any emergency that may arise. Being a widow who depends on the charcoal business it has not been easy considering my age as well. On most of the days, I was not able to go to work as a result of the pains and fatigue and therefore I could lack basic needs like food. Also, the fact that I stay alone, was the toughest. Therefore I am now optimistic that once the cow starts producing milk, I will no longer have to struggle like before instead, I will be selling the milk in the nearby dairy shops and generating an income. I am thankful to GiveDirectly for making my dreams and wishes come true eventually."

"The biggest difference in my daily life is that I am now feeling so proud after owning the livestock. I have been yearning to have them for years but I could purchase either of them because they were very expensive. I am so hopeful that they will thrive so well in my region considering that the climate is so favourable. In a few months to come the cow will start producing milk which I am planning to sell and earn an income. Currently, I am jobless, I have been depending on my children for daily meals. Also with the goats, once they multiply, I will sell some and start another business( hotel ) which will be an additional income. I am so confident and sure that the two projects shall uplift my standard of living and I will be independent. I am so grateful to GiveDirectly for finally empowering me to accomplish my dream."

"The money which I received from GiveDirectly enabled me to make a huge step in my life. I spent KES 20000 on buying a dairy cow for milk production. I have been rearing a cow that belongs to my relative but I am happy that I got my own as of now. Secondly, I spent KES 25000 on buying building materials for the construction of a new house. I am happy that the house is complete and we have moved in already. The remaining amount of KES 10000, I spent on buying foodstuffs for my family and a few clothes for my children."

"We live near a forest and our main activity is rearing livestock since there is plenty of pasture in the forest. Before, we had only one cow which would give us milk for use at home and some for sale. When we got the transfers, we agreed to buy a cow and two goats. We bought a cow for KES 34000 and two goats for KES 20000. We opted to acquire livestock so that we can increase milk production from cows and in case of an emergency we would sell goats offsprings hence cushioning ourselves in cases of financial emergency."

"Immediately after I received my recent transfer, I developed a goal of raising livestock. Initially, I had only one cow and three goats. Although I had been longing to add more, I had no money that dream could not materialize. After my second transfer, I bought one cow, four goats, and a sheep. Raising livestock will increase my asset value, therefore, creating an avenue for raising some money for my children's school fees."

"It was around 8 Pm when I heard a message notification from my phone. I was preparing supper at that time. When I checked it out I could not believe my eyes. It was a message confirming that I have received KES 55,000 from GiveDirectly. I felt so happy because I have never received such an amount of money before. I immediately informed my family members and everyone celebrated. I knew I would be able to buy a dairy cow to cut the daily cost of buying milk. I planned on how to spend the money and withdraw the following day. I am so grateful for the support because GiveDirectly enabled me to fulfill my dream."
