"I spent most of my transfer on a dairy cow after loosing all my two dairy cows to skin diseases two years ago. Part of the transfer was spent on a 3000-litres water tank because rivers in our place are quite far and the water is contaminated therefore unhygienic for consumption. The rivers are also seasonal because of prolonged dry spells and at times you have to hire motorcycle to transport water from a far. I also bought a three seater sofaset, and the rest I spent on food and household items."

"I spent $500 out of my transfers to pay as down payment for purchasing a motorcycle. I spent the remaining $40 on food. I intend to purchase a motorcycle for commercial purposes, where by my husband can use it to transport passengers for pay, in order to effectively provide for our three children. My husband is currently employed as a motorcycle rider. We both felt that owning our own motorbike would maximise his pay and his profits. A new motorbike costs $1080. I will spend my second transfers to complete payment of the motorcycle, so we can finally own our own motorbike." (Occupation: Motorcycle or bicycle taxi)

"My ambition has always to start a business and receiving this money mean steady source of income. Recently we separated with my wife since I was unable to pay dowry of 5 cows. I am motorcycle taxi operator earning an average income of Ksh 300 a day and I have been struggling to make ends meet. The job itself is tiresome and I am planning to use Ksh 20,000 of my transfer to start salon business. Running both salon and motorcycle business will boost my household since I will be able to meet most of my needs and save enough to pay the dowry." (Occupation: Motorcycle or bicycle taxi)

"The biggest difference in my daily life is owning my own motorcycle. This was unexpected because I had lost my earlier this year due to Covid 19.After loosing my job I tried my luck as a casual motorcycle taxi but it has been quite tough because the motorcycle owners would micromanage and suspect me most of the time. As a an orphan, I had requested my aunty to lend me a loan to buy my own motorcycle because she a member of the merry go round groups but it was impossible. I am also glad because since I received the money because my wife is happier than before because I can now buy adequate food. Initially, I couldn't afford to feed her and life was quite unbearable because of conflicts but now there is peace." (Occupation: Motorcycle or bicycle taxi)
