"My first priority is to open a cosmetic shop in Mathare. Women in Nairobi worry a lot about their looks and they invest in cosmetics to look better.Using cosmetics especially makeup is one way of building ones self esteem and confidence, that is why cosmetics are highly marketable and profitable and my income will increase from the sells.I will be able to make a living from this and provide for my family. Secondly I will expand my charcoal business by adding more stock. I will sell in a larger scale and my income will improve. Lastly as a single mother and a widow I struggle to provide my children with basic needs especially paying for their school fees in time. My first born son is about to join high school next year and I have been worried that I will not have enough money to pay for his school fees. i want him to finish all his educational levels and get a good job in future. I will use part of the transfer to pay for his school expenses come next year."

"My first priority is to use the money to start a new business of making and selling fresh fruit juice. Early last year I had the same business but I had to focus on other jobs because I lacked capital to expand it. I will buy a blender and boost my stock of fruits. I will also buy a freezer that will keep my juices fresh and not perishable. The income I get from this business will enable me to sustain my livelihood. My second priority is to buy some household items such as a carpet,TV and clothes. Lastly I will use the transfer to expand my mother's business. She sells snacks and cigarettes along the roadside. I will buy her more stock and her profits will increase."

"If it were not for the cash transfers, I do not think it would have been possible for me to launch the business because after it collapsed some years ago, it has been extremely hard for me to revive it once again because I do not have a source of income which I can use to revive the business. Apart from that, I also mentioned before that I bought a cow at a whopping 24000 KES which is a lot of money which I could have never managed to raise to date. So for me, I just say thank you to Give Directly for helping me come this far."

"My business has really grown since I started receiving GiveDirectly transfers because I was able to stock more clothes and made more sales before adding an extra business on shoes. I currently make much more profits that I would never have had I not received money from GiveDirectly to boost my business. This has enabled me to easily take care of my household needs and support my husband more financially."
