Pamela
received a $518 second payment.
"In my opinion , GiveDirectly did well through uplifting the living standards of most poor households in my village . This was enhance by making transfers unconditional meaning everyone had the decision to make on how they would want to spend their money , as a result , majority of the beneficiaries built house ,paid dowry and invested in business."

"My daughter after completing her college she has been unemployed for a while . As parent I felt it was just to start a business for her to make her busy and empower financially as well . Therefore, I spent my second transfer to start a saloon business for my daughter and today I am glad that she helps out in the provision of some basic needs for the family like food with part of the profits she makes . I bought a mattress, bed and two goats . The remaining amount 20,000 KES I used on buying farm inputs for cultivating my farm and food for my family's consumption ."

Benard
received a $488 third payment.
"Currently, my life is different from how it was in that, I have been able to achieve some of my goals with ease. Before then, I was a hawker. I used to sell clothes. I could wake up at around five in the morning and finish my work late. It was tiresome and deprived me of time to spend with my family. When I was successfully enrolled in the program, I was so happy and that was the beginning of my breakthrough. I was able to establish a business premise and started selling clothes and finally bought a motorcycle with the recent one. Today, all the family budget is not on my back since my wife runs the clothe business and really helps me to take care of some needs."

Benson
received a $488 third payment.
"Surviving through tough times made me a jack of all trades. Sometime back, I was a barber and the money was not enough, I ended up being jobless. I also tried to be a driver but thought of having my own business. When I got enrolled in the program is when I knew that I really needed to buy a motorcycle. I took a motorcycle which I have been paying in installments. This recent transfer was not any different. I used a larger portion of it on repaying the loan. I am determined to finish it so as to beat the deadline. Apart from that, I paid for my rent and my mother's too. Some went on shopping and renewing my driving license."

Rosemary
received a $22 twenty-first payment.
"My additional goal for my life for the next four-month is to buy another cow. I believe this is the best way to invest in it because it is not costly. In our area managing cows is very easy because we have enough land for pasture therefore our cows can never die of hunger. I am very positive towards this project because I have seen my neighbor become successful out of the same business. I feel encouraged because he also started with one cow. I am very hopeful that things will work out as planned"

It will help us settle emergencies and little expenses here and there. I am in the process of accumulating enough capital and knowing the nitty gritty's of this business"
