"My life is different in that I no longer have to deal with high school fees stress because I used the transfer to settle all the fees balance that I owed the school. My children will no longer miss classes and I believe this is going to improve their academic performance. I have also invested the money in cane farming and in the next one year when my cane matures, I shall be able to reap more benefits because cane farming is such a big cash crop in our area. Initially, I could not think of owning any sugarcane farm because all my earnings would always get depleted on either food or school fees. It is my great hope that the sugarcane proceeds shall be sufficient enough to pay college costs to my children and once they complete their studies they will be guaranteed of well paying jobs that shall change our fortune."

"I spent the second transfer on paying school fees for my son who joined college. The doors of the world are open to those who can read and I know by giving my son quality education, he will eventually be in a better position to compete for the job opportunities. This is a great investment as well that gives me hope for the future. I spent some part of the transfer to renovate my house that now looks smart and free from jiggers infestations. The remaining part was spent to construct a pit latrine for improvement in health and sanitation. I no longer sneak into bushes to ease myself when pressed."

"GiveDirectly has painted a picture of greatness in the minds of people. True liberation visited our community as transfers hit the accounts of the recipients. No child stays at home due to lack of school fees, people eat well and of good diet and others have engaged in small scale businesses including farming. I have no observation on what GiveDirectly never did well."

"My life is really different at the moment. These transfers really came at a time when I really needed financial support because of the numerous challenges that I was facing. I am terminally ill I have an inflammation in the small intestine while my wife was involved in an accident and got both internal and external injuries and need medical attention. On the other hand, my family is really big, I have 7 children and two other children who were orphaned following my sister's demise. I pay school fees for these children and also cater for all their needs which is quite a burden on me considering the fact that I rely on casual jobs which bring little earnings. When these transfers came I paid their school fees and bought enough food which is going to take us for some time it was quite a relief on my side. Most part of these transfers also went to pay for the medical expenses for both my wife and I, we are feeling really much better and healthier and even able to go look for means to meet our family's daily needs, these transfers also helped me get a health cover, this has so far helped us cater for medical expenses and it's going to help us even in the future."

"My first transfer I spent on buying three cows. I bought two bulls to plough on my farm and one cow to provide milk for my family. Initially, I was using my hands to till and was very cumbersome. I used a lot of energy and it took a lot of days preparing for my farm. The bulls will ease my work on the farm and I will be able to increase my produce. I will also be able to provide milk for my family and the remaining balance I have from the transfer, I will spend on buying goats as well as paying school fees for my children."

"My life is currently different from how it was four months in that, I managed to pay school fees for my daughter who stepped in high school. I am glad that she did not drop out of school like her other sibling due to lack of money."

"GD transfers have been of much help to me especially on handling family financial needs. The biggest area where I feel so much relieved is in school fees for my children. This has been my biggest burden and worry. In most cases, my children have always been sent home for the same regularly. Because I have always had very little income from casual work, I have never managed to clear the balances in time. Anytime they had been given a warning, I would have sleepless nights because I knew they would be sent home. Ever since I started receiving these transfers, I have been able to pay the major part of their fees and they have never been sent home for school fees since thrid term of 2018. This is a big imrpvement in my life beccause of GD."

"Staying out of school for even two weeks due to lack of money was just normal. My parents were not able to pay school fees on time because the little that they could get could go towards food and other needs. I had to miss exams a few times and struggle to catch up with the syllabus because my classmates had gone ahead. This was really hard but when I started getting payment from GiveDirectly, I was able to pay and in fact cleared school fees hence settle well in school. Thanks to GiveDireclty. This is so far the biggest difference that I have experienced in the last four months."

"The biggest difference in my daily life is that I now have two cows that I am now depending on for milk production. I used to have three cows but all of them perished due to the severe famine that had stricken our land. The livestock lacked water and grass to feed on and they died. This was such a huge loss to me since I also depended on them for milk production in order to help me meet my daily needs. I am so happy today when I see the two cows and when I see my grandchildren go to school and them not being chased away due to lack of school fees. I see myself now being able to start a business of selling poultry and goats here in our village, this business will enable me meet my daily needs and those of my family. All I can tell GiveDirectly is to send the rest of the transfer as soon as possible so that I can be able to start this poultry business, other than that I am very grateful to Givedirectly."
