"I will start a chicken selling business in the village to sustain my family. I lost my job during the Covid 19 pandemic and this has made me lead a miserable life in the village. With the chicken business, I am assured of handsome profits courtesy of the amazing demand in the village. This will cost me an initial capital of KES 30,000. I will use the balance to buy food for my family."

"We should all agree that money drives our economy and without a dime, one can not progress. I am saddened that my projects (cattle and chicken business) have been at a standstill for a lack of finances to support them. I am single and depend on the cattle business to earn KES 300 weekly which all cater for food for the household and hence I have nothing to save."

"Receiving this money means a great improvement in our living standards. We have been having plans of having our own cow, but we haven't purchased one yet due to insufficient finances. We do not have a steady source of income which makes it hard to save up money for such projects. My husband is a casual laborer, doing odd jobs at a nearby center, while I operate a small grocery shop. The money we earn mainly goes to meeting basic needs like food mainly milk and maize flour and clothing. We plan to use KES 40,000 to purchase a dairy cow. It will provide us with milk and we can earn an income through the sale of milk too. For the rest of the amount, I will purchase a few chickens as a source of income."

"I am a widow living in a poor condition house which I feel unsafe but due to lack of money to renovate it has led me to persevere living in it hopefully that one day I will be in a position to have it renovated. On receiving this money I plan to start saving so that after 4 months I buy 10 new iron sheets so that the roof can be renovated. This would go along way in providing a conducive place for me especially during the raining seasons. The renovation would cost 12000 KES. I am also planning to buy 5 chicken so as I can start chicken rearing business at home. This would help me providing for my family in future when I will be selling them at a profit.
The rest of the money will be mostly used to buy food as I only depend on my son who does casual jobs in the city."

"After experiencing a drought last year, I realized there is a need for savings. If we had money, it would have helped us to buy food and water. That said, I would like to but some chicken and save some money after I sell them at a later date. This money will help us buy some commodities on a rainy day or even pay school fees."

"I never used to have a comfortable life as the earnings I got from my farming business were few. Supporting the needs of my five children, my wife, and I was a challenge. For this reason, I would often be late on my children's school fee payments and thereby accruing fee arrears of KES 9000. When I started receiving funds from give directly, so much changed in my life. I was able to clear my debts and also improve my farming business by building a chicken coop. I believe this will bring in more income and thereby help me provide for my family better."

"I spent my transfer to purchase proper bedding that costs KES 7000 in total. Previously, I was sleeping on a wooden raised surface using old rags as my bedding. In addition, I spent KES 25,000 to improve the condition of my house by building an additional room because the one I had was very small to fully accommodate my household's items. Furthermore, I spent KES 7000 to boost my goat rearing by purchasing 2 more goats and 4 chickens. This was to serve as my long-term investment in the family. They will assist me whenever I encounter any financial crisis in the future. With the remaining amount, I bought enough food for the family since we are experiencing famine in our area."

"I do not have a stable source of income hence have the desire to start up a poultry farming business. I do casual jobs to meet the basic needs of my family of 3. Unreliable and inconsistent jobs make it difficult to save for the future. Receiving this money means I will be able to buy 150 chickens, build a structure and purchase a wire mesh for fencing. This will earn me enough money from the sale of eggs a boost my income. I am happy because this transfer will see my dreams come through."

"I have been building a bigger house where I can accommodate my growing family. Currently, I live in a small hut with my family of three. Therefore, I decided to start construction in the year 2021 but I have not completed it due to financial constraints. I earn about KES 5000 per month from selling airtime scratch cards for Safaricom. This income is shared between meeting my household daily expenses and continuing the construction. I will spend about KES 50,000. I will then start a poultry keeping business by building a poultry house and buying about KES 20 Chicken and its feeds."
