"I was living in my big brother house with my family. I never had enough money to build my own house. my source of livelihood was only making garden and sell it to sustain the family. With the gift from Givedirectly, I have developed a new goal. My new goal is to build a new house and save part of my transfer to multiple it for future benefit like children school fees, hospital bill and food. Currently, I am using this second transfer to move on with my construction faster. A very big thanks to the Givedirectly family for their assistance."

"Receiving this money means an additional income to me. Depending on my neighbour's motorcycle taxi business for a living is somewhat straining as I have always had to surpass daily targets to have some money to give the employer as well as save. From the days' income, I give my employer KES 300 daily and save the rest. I had already accumulated KES 10000 but unlucky, I was involved in an accident and I used all this savings to cater for the damages caused. Thanks to God, Give directly has come in handy for I intend to use KES 60000 to purchase a second-hand motorbike hence my ambition of owning a motorbike to earn income will come true. I will use the rest of the transfers to build a 2 roomed iron-roofed house."

"Receiving this money means that I will be able to open an agro-vet in Siongiroi town and buy a motorcycle. I am a certified veterinary officer and rely solely on this job to earn income. I plan to use KES 70000 to open an agro-vet so that I can diversify my income other than that from the veterinary services that I offer. I plan on getting a second-hand motorcycle that goes for KES 40000 that will enable me to reach more people who need my help and to transport drugs and other supplies that I will need in the agro-vet."

"Bad luck stroke my spouse and experienced expectancy difficulties. This lead to her miscarriage and underwent a Cesarean section. This was expensive and cost for us, it left us with huge hospital bills that I am still settling. This is not easy for me since I work casually as a motorbike rider earning me little money of about KES 300 daily."

Sidi
received a $27 second payment.
"Before the transfers came in I had left the village to go to town and visit some of my relatives and unfortunately soon after I received terrible news concerning my grandson who I lived with that apparently he had been involved in an accident since the motorcycle he was riding on had collided with a car and he ended up with a broken leg. He was to be brought to town for medical attention because he also had also lost a lot of blood and since he was my responsibility I paid KES 1,000 for the visit and check ups from the doctor and for the medication and his meals I paid KES 500 for each respectively. Well as for the remainder of the money, I decided to save it for later in case of any emergencies."
