"Fetching water in our household had been really tedious work before receiving the transfers from Givedirectly. We had been working over long distances to find the only source of water which was serving the whole community. The situation would worsen during drought seasons since we would find very long queues in the spring but it has been a relieve since we received the transfers which we decided to spend part of it on buying a large water tank which will act as a reservoir collecting water during rainy seasons. We also used part of the transfer on paying school fees for my son who is currently in college, we bought clothing for all the members of the household and used the remaining amount on buying foodstuff."

"There is a big difference in my life because I managed to pay my child's school fees in time. The transfers also facilitated agricultural activities and I am hopeful of getting good harvest come the season. Prior to receiving this money, my child could not stay at school due to lack of finacial support."

"GiveDirectly has done well giving me money that has enabled me to build an iron sheet roofed house, acquire household items like utensils, mattresses, pay school fees. I don't see anything it hasn't done well in my opinion."

"In my opinion, GiveDirectly has made a great impact in this village. This is evident since most of the people now own permanent iron-roofed houses. Previously most houses were small grass-thatched huts. Apart from that, no one owned livestock, but almost every household have quite a number. Our children are now studying comfortably unlike before when some were forced to drop out of school because their parents could not pay school fees. In my opinion, Give Directly has done nothing wrong. They have instead improved our living standards and we thank them for that."

"Raising my children is quite a big challenge because I do not have the capacity to provide quality life. It hurts me to see my six children who are not educated enough, being reduced to casual labourers. This is because I could not raise their school fees. In addition to this, other needs such as food are not easy to meet and in most cases we go hungry. This is due to not having a stable job that has consistent income. I can therefore say, financial instability is my biggest hardship."

"I believe lack of education is the root cause for my poverty and I would not want to pass this to my generation. I have always desired to educate my children but the process is not smooth because of lack of school fees. This transfer will make my dream come true as I will start a goat rearing project to finance their education. This will give them a better future for they will be able to fend for themselves without much struggle. Besides, I will renovate my house and replace the old iron sheets. This will save me the agony of moving my staff around the house during rainy season. "

"Receiving this money means I will be able to cater for my family's daily upkeep without having to rely much on my husband so that he can concentrate on more pressing needs such as school fees. I will purchase indigenous dairy cows whose milk I will sell in order to earn some income to buy food and water. I will also buy iron sheets for our house to replace the old ones that leak so much during rainy seasons. "

"Receiving this money means that I will be able to educate my children. Iam a widow who is so vulnerable with some children studying at secondary levels but un able to pay their fees. My children normally have no struggle doing casual labour with me for school fees. This is so much affecting their Education since getting money for school fees is alway an issue whenever the term opens. Once I manage to pay their fees earlier, they will get better grades which can make them do valuable courses and hence good paying jobs. They will be able to take care if their needs."

"The greatest difference in my life ever since I started receiving transfers from Give Directly is that I was able to pay school fees with ease. Initially, I was thinking of calling for a fund drive or even borrowing from friends. We had sold some of our valuable assets because we urgently needed to pay school fees for our children yet we did not have stable jobs. While we were wondering what next Give Directly came to our village and chose me as one of the beneficiaries. I am among those people who were greatly relieved. I am really hopeful to regain some of the assets I had sold out"
