"Receiving this money means that I will be able to do motor cycle transport business. That business will support my household in feeding and paying school fees for my children. That will be the main household activity for me and my household. Currently, relying on farming is not sustainable due to intermittent drought that comes in any time."

"The biggest difference in my daily life is that I have bought a dairy cow. I depend on casual jobs in the village to earn an income to meet all the basic needs of my family. Sometimes there were no jobs in the village and this means we had to go without food that day. I used to wake up early in the morning to look for a job and arrived home late hours. I did not have time with my children to bound because I was always a way to do such jobs. Currently, my life has changed in that I no longer do casual jobs in the village. I have devoted all my time to work on my farm and this has led to a good harvest. My children do not go without food like before. I have enough milk for my family and I sell the surplus to earn an income. I pay school fees on time and my children are no longer sent home like before. Their performance has improved and this has made me so happy. I am so much grateful for the support it has changed our living standard."

"There is a huge difference in my life currently. I have had ample time to study in school reason being I cleared this term's school fees in time. There are limited times where I was sent home to clear any outstanding fee amount and this has quite helped me stay away from the vices of the society as I spend less time with my peers who are not in school. I can also dress well because I can afford some nice clothes which help me look smart and presentable. Whenever I am required to buy stationery or school uniform, I hardly turn to my mother to do so, I just wait on the transfers and fulfil these needs immediately. I can always chip in and help my mother on the day to day budgeting for food for the family and this has helped relieve her of the overbearing burden of toiling twice as much for the family every day."

"I spent my second transfers on paying school fees for my daughter who is a secondary school. At the time when I received the transfers, she had been sent home because of the arrears and had stayed home for 3 days as I was still looking for the money to pay. I was not at peace because her colleagues were studying in school while she was at home. I knew if she stayed home longer, her performance would have been affected yet I wanted her to get the best grades so that she can join a good public university. This is why I first paid the arrears so that she can go back to school. I also used part of the transfer to buy a cow. The cow would be a remembrance of GD and I can be able to sell it when I have a financial crisis so that I can raise money to handle the issue. I used the remaining on buying household items such as bedding and seats since the ones I had were worn out. They have been in use in the house for the last three years and I felt I needed new ones."

"Receiving this transfer has brought great relief to me. I had one, my son's who was in high school and had been sent home for fees. I struggled a lot to raise the full fees for him to comfortably continue and be allowed back to school. When I received this transfer, I cleared his school fees and am happy that being his final year, he will stay in school until his final exam. I am at peace now because he has a zero school fee balance."

"I was living in a small house which could not accommodate the whole of my family. My children had to seek shelter elsewhere at night, and this was troubling me a lot. I could not upgrade to a decent and spacious house due to limited resources. When I received this transfer, I purchased enough building materials which include 24 pieces of iron sheets, building poles and paid a mason for his job. I spent a portion of the remaining amount to pay school fees for my children and also bought for them school uniforms and stationery. I spent the remaining amount to buy some foodstuffs and paid for other household expenses."

"I spent KES 13000 on a bull to help me in my farming. I am hoping to get another bull so to make a pair that will plough my farm during the rainy season. In addition to this, I also purchased three goats at KES 6000 to keep in my homestead. I am aiming to keep them so that when they multiply, I can be able to sell some of them when am in any financial crisis. I also paid school fees for my children so that they would not be sent back home. I am planning to open a restaurant in my area using the remaining amount so that it will be my investment."
