"In the next six months, my life will have changed in that, we will have bought a piece of land as a family. Also, I am optimistic that I will have planted some nappier grass on this farm. Due to this, my livestock will have enough feeds throughout the year hence milk supply to my customers will remain constant. I will be using the income from the dairy project to pay school fees for my children."

"Expanding my dairy project had always been my prayer but had not been able to due to financial constraints. Buying three heifers using my transfers is so far the biggest difference in my daily life. I am optimistic that it will be calving soon thus an increase in milk production. I will be supplying the milk to our local cooler plant where I will be paid every month. I will be using the income from this project to pay for my children's school fees and to cater for my family needs."

"When I received my first transfers, I spent KES 20000 to pay school fees for my children. I decided to clear their school fees so that they would be able to study in school without any disturbances. I am now optimistic that I can invest the money I will be getting from the causal work I do in other income-generating activities. I used the remaining amount to buy some timber, nails, iron sheets and also paid a mason for the work of building a house for my sons. We settled on this as a family so that they will not be going to sleep their neighbor's house anymore. This usually inconveniences their studies in the evening as they would have to leave early due to security reasons."

"Receiving this money means I will be able to meet my family's needs with ease. I plan to spend 30000 shillings on my children's school fees and purchase two beds and mattresses so we can sleep comfortably and wake up energized. I will also purchase some 10 indigenous goats at a total cost of 30000 so I can be able to meet future financial requirements. "

"I spent KES 2000 to pay for my children school fees so that they would be allowed to continue with their studies. I don't want them to to be interrupted by being sent home. I saved the rest of the amount in my account. I had already begun saving and my intention is to save enough money to purchase a motorbike for taxi services. I added this money to the existing savings. Having our own motorbike will ensure I get a stable source of income even after Give Directly have stopped sending us the monthly transfers. At least I will no longer be depending on my husband's income."

"Before the coming of GiveDirectly, I was operating a shop in our villages which has been a major source of income. I had only started this shop at KES 15000 and the stock was not much profitable. When I received my first transfer, I invested KES 45000 to this shop by purchasing an adequate stock of different products that will serve a large number of customers and maximize profit. In addition to this, I also paid KES 9000 to clear school fees for my child who is in her final year of study. I am happy that she will no longer be sent home for school fees until her final national examination is over."

"My priority has been paying school fees for my son who is in university since I believe that a quality education leads to a successful life. I am happy that Give Directly came to my rescue when my son was on the verge of not sitting for his end of semester examination due to the lump-sum arrears he had in school. Paying a bit of the arrears made him sit for the exams and now he has already completed his university education. All my gratitude goes to GiveDirectly for sponsoring part of my child's education. I am glad that my son have completed his studies which makes me hopeful that soon he will get a job that will transform his life better."

"I spent my second transfer on paying school fees arrears for my children who are in both primary and secondary schools. Had I not paid the money at that time, then one week later they would have been sent home for the same. This is because after paying the money, one week later the other pupils were sent home for fees arrears. I was very happy when my children were not sent home. I felt very proud as a parent because I was able to provide for the family well. I used part of the transfer to pay masons who finished constructing my new house. I bought building materials with my first transfer but did not have the money to pay masons to construct a house hence I had to wait until I get my second transfer to finish the house project. I also used the money to buy food for my family and for the masons who constructed my house. The rest I used to pay a debt I had from a friend to handle other medical emergencies I had in my family when my child fell sick and needed to be taken to the hospital."

"School fees arrears has been my major burden in my life for the last four years. I have really struggled to ensure my children are always in school studying. This is because I had a small income from farming from a small piece of land my husband inherited from his parents and we had to boost the income with casual work which was not very consistent. Since we had other needs of the family to deal with, we were not able to pay school fees arrears for my children in time. They would be sent home regularly ad this really affected their performance in school because they were out of school most of the time while others were studying. I thank GD so much because ever since I received my transfers, my children have never been sent home again. I cleared their arrears with the transfer and since then I have been paying their arrears on a monthly basis which has helped me keep up with the payments."

"I spent my transfer on buying building materials such as timber, a sofa set, clothes and pay school fees arrears for my children. I used my first transfer on buying building materials but I was not able to buy all the materials I needed hence for me to complete building a new house, I was shot of timber. This is why I used part of my second transfer to buy timber so that I could finally have the house I have always wanted. I did not have good household items such as seats hence I used my transfer to buy a sofa set so that we could move into the new house with seats and also buy new clothes for my family. We have used the clothes we have for long and I felt its time we get new ones. The rest of it I used to pay school fees arrears for my children in secondary. They had been sent home because of the arears and had they stayed home for a week as I was still looking for the money to pay. I would have taken long to get the money if it were not for the transfers. The transfers were a very big relief in my life because, without it, I would not have managed to get all these done on my own. I was already overwhelmed with needs."
