"In our list of expenditures, buying a cow was at the top as we needed a stop to the huge spending on buying milk that had been happening in our household for a long time. I spent the first KES35000 on obtaining a 5months in-calf cow that we are looking forward to seeing calf down soon. I hope that my family will soon stop buying milk and enjoy enough supply of milk both for home use and surplus for sale as an income source. I also spent KES 20000 on settling school fees arrears for my children who had been experiencing a lot of disturbances being sent home when we had no money to pay them in time. With the remaining amount, I spent on obtaining at least a pair each for my seven children. I am grateful that all that we had planned to spend the first transfer on came to pass." "Receiving this money means improved business and increased savings. I do milk vending in the neighboring town called Kaboson. I collect milk around my village and even neighboring villages. I then transport using hired motorcycle where I pay KES 500 per day. This has been expensive to me and sometimes eats into my profit. I collect around 200 liters of milk per day. My profit is KES 10 per liter. This profit also has to cater for transportation. So when I get this transfer I will spend it on purchasing a motorcycle. This will help me reduce the transportation fee. I will spend the entire transfer of KES 110000 to purchase it."

"I work in the transport industry as a motorcyclist. Despite the challenges I go though at work, I always push myself and I get to earn around ksh30 daily. Unfortunately, the tyres of my motorcycle got worn out and I can no longer work. To purchase new ones has been a challenge for me. So, I opted to harvest coconut then sell them at the beach. This has enabled me to fend for my family. Even so, it has been a challenge to put food on the table for them. Therefore, when I received the ksh1200, I used it all to purchase a bundle of maize flour."

"My parents are aged and unproductive and I am the only person whom they depends on since my other siblings works in a city far away and they do not have reliable jobs. I have been working as a motorcycle rider for a while and my dream has been to buy my own motorcycle because the Ksh 300 that I get as daily commission is not enough to cater for both my needs and those of my parents. I had lost hope because I couldn't afford to raise enough capital on my own nor take loan because I didn't have security to prove. When I was enrolled to the program, I thought of saving my daily commission and Ksh 500 from every monthly transfer to accumulate a reasonable amount and top up with loan so that I can buy a motorcycle. For the two months that I have been receiving the transfers, this has been possible because I usually spend Ksh 2500 to buy enough food to take us through the month. I spend Ksh 2500 of my last months transfer to buy food and saved Ksh 500." (Occupation: Motorcycle or bicycle taxi)
