"If I am bless to receive money from Givedirectly, I intend to put my children back to school. Two of the oldest children were in school in Banjul, but were forced to return to Wolakai Town because of lack of money since 2019. My only dream is to see that they're back in school. So, if Givedirectly give me money, I will use it to get them back in school and if anything remain, I will try to build my own house." (Occupation: Small business)

"If I am bless to receive money from Givedirectly, I intend to start a business. The money that will be generated from the business will help us to fix our house and pay our children school fees. Our house is falling apart right now because we don't have money to repair it. We have to send our children to live and be raise by different people just so that they can get education. It really breaks my heart that I, as a mother I will not be able or is not able to bring up my children the way I want them to grow. Therefore, if the Givedirectly help me with money it will help change whether my children will stay outside and be brought up by different people or their own parents." (Occupation: Small business)

"I have to burn charcoal to send my children to school and the work is very hectic. Though the money that GiveDirectly is giving us will not be paid back, I don't want to lavish the money on things that will not bring benefit to me. Now that GiveDirectly has come with this help and they told us to put the money into anything good that will benefit us, I think that if I use the money to send my children to school; I will also benefit in the future. If my children are sent to good schools and educated, I will benefit a lot. If you look at the zinc on my house, you will see that it is very old and leaking. We are in the rainy season and most times I can go to attend to my charcoal business. Every time, before heading out, I have to place buckets to spots that are leaking because if I don't, I will meet my things wet. So, the next thing I will do is to take some of the money and change the zinc over my roof." (Occupation: Small business)

"I live in a house with two rooms. One of my rooms are leaking and because of that, my children and I can sleep in the same room. It can be too embarrassing to me. So, when I get this money, the first thing I will do is to reroof my house. I will also buy sticks and call a carpenter to fix my place. At least, when this is done, I will be satisfied. I also used to have a provision shop that I ran. When my second daughter got seriously ill, I had to use my business money til she recovered. This made me to have money to continue running my business and feed my family. Because of getting food on my table, I jumped into agriculture. On my farm, I plant vegetables and fruits to sell and sustain my family. The next thing that I will do after fixing my house is to start a business. By doing business, I can now start catering fully for my children and I."
