"I spent my most recent transfer to pay school fees for my daughter who is in secondary school so that she can study without any interference. The remaining amount of money I bought building materials and paid workers who facilitated the construction of my present decent three roomed house. Before, the previous house I used to stay in was old leaking and at a risk of collapsing as a result we were the talk of the village since it resembled a dogs habitation . This situation promoted selflessness wishing that I could get any break through soon. Unfortunately it was impossible because of insufficient funds. Thanks GiveDirectly for bringing hope to my life once again."

"I spent part of my transfer to buying a few building materials. I bought building poles, iron sheets, and nails. This was purposely for the construction of a new house which I have been dreaming of having it for a long period of time. We used to share the same house with my children who were so uncomfortable. My older sons used to sleep in my neighbor's house and I always felt it was not safe for them since they had to walk long distances before they could reach that home. In addition to building a new house, I then cleared school fee arrears for my children. Some had dropped out of school because I was overwhelmed with responsibilities and I couldn't afford to pay their school fees. Apart from that, I hired a pair of oxen to plough my farm since it was the planting season. I then bought one goat then spent the remaining amount to buy enough foodstuffs for my family. We because we have been taking a single meal or even sleep hungry and I don't want my family to go through this life again"

"The goats I recently bought has totally changed my life. The fact that start has started reproducing gives me hope of achieving my long term goals. Since they multiply very fast and the market demand is also very high, it means I will soon be financially stable. My intention is when they multiply and mature, I will be selling the offspring. This will help me pay school fees for my children. Since my children are still young, I am sure by the time they will be attaining the age of joining school the money I would have saved from the business will be enough to take them to school. We are both jobless and we felt this would be the best solution to meet our financial needs"

"I expect to have bought the dairy cow and that means I will not be spending any money on buying milk for my family. We will have a way of generating income which we can use o pay my children's school fees, buy them clothes to dress well and even put food on the table for the family on a daily basis."

"With next year in mind, I decided to save most of my most recent transfers so that I will have an easy time paying school fees for my child as well as buying the school requirements without any trouble. There are usually a lot of School requirements at the beginning of the year which is why I thought I should start saving early enough to avoid inconveniences. I spent what I had left after the savings on foodstuff and other household needs."

"In the next six months, I hope that my poultry farm will have picked up well. I am expecting to get a good amount of money through this business considering the high demand for eggs in this region. I will not be struggling to meet my daily expenses because I now have two sources of income. I can now start pursuing my long term goals because I now have the means to reach most of these goals. I want to first focus on paying school fees for my children and investing in other projects."

"Before I became a beneficiary of this project, I had a lot of problems paying for my rent and most times, my landlord would lock me out and threaten to kick me off his premises. I also had a lot of trouble paying school fees for my children who would constantly be sent away from school because the little income I had was very little. With the help of these transfers, I can now comfortably take care of these without any stress."

"Owning the pair of oxen has greatly improved my farming since I am able to prepare and cultivate much early than I used to do, which makes the biggest difference in my daily life. Initially, I used to own a pair but I sold them later on in order to clear school fees for my children so that they would be allowed back to school. Since then I have been hiring from my neighbors during the planting season which was very expensive to me. Sometimes I could not afford to cultivate my whole acreage because I wasn't able to meet the full cost of hiring the services. I had no option but to use the hoes by myself which was very tiresome and the harvest was just a handful. However, my life is currently different because, through this money, I managed to purchase the new pair of oxen which means I will no longer be hiring from anyone, instead, I will be hiring them at a fee. I will also be ploughing and cultivating my whole acreage and get plenty of harvests, which will ensure food security for my family."

"Owning the goats has made my life to be so different so far. I settled in buying goats because, first, they can live in any climatic condition and they reproduce twice a year and they mature faster compared to other domestic animals. I believe this will make me wealthier in a short period of time. I have been longing to rear them for a long period of time but I could not afford it because they were costly and my daily income was too low. The majority have started reproducing and when the offsprings mature and multiply, I will exchange them for a dairy cow. I believe this is going to happen in a few months to come. From the benefits I will be getting I will be able to pay school fees for my children without straining and some other basic needs."

"I bought a dairy cow with a second transfer. I was determined to have a cow and this was the chance that had availed itself for me to achieve this goal. The various profits that I was going to get afterward like milk which I can sell and even consume some with my family are the reason why I, even so, this as a good project. I also bought sheep which I can resell to take care of emergencies. The remaining amount was spent on shopping and cleared school fees for my two children too."
