"Prolonged drought has made my vegetable business unreliable. Currently, my husband is the sole breadwinner and with an income of less than 500 KES, he cannot sustain a family of 6. It would be a pleasure if I can contribute to our financial status. I, therefore, intend to open a retail shop with these transfers. This will mean financial freedom and reduced struggle in the provision of our basic needs."

"Last academic year, my kids were regularly sent home from school due to my inability to pay their fees on time. My husband and I depend solely on subsistence farming, which doesn't really earn us much money. If I should benefit from this cash transfer, I hope of settling my kid tuition and start a new business to substain to my kids in school."

"If I receive this cash transfer from Givedirectly, I will invest greater portion of the cash into Timber Business. My son is in secondary school and as such I need an investment that will yield more profit to support his education. I think this Timber business will be the right investment if I receive this cash transfer. Right now, educating my son means alot to me. I have the assurance that if my son is educated he will have a better Job to support his family in the future."

"I have long wished to make business and also build my house. I was in a saving club last year with the mind of investing into business and improving my house. Unfortunately for us, we found ourselves into financial problems due to the death of my husband's father. We lost almost everything. Because of this, we are finding it difficult to cope with life. My house is seriously leaking but there is no money to do any renovation. If we receive this money from Give Directly, we are going to renovate the house and use the rest to make business."

"In 2012, my husband and I had a plan to work, save money to build our house to a better one. Unfortunately for us, he saw a chemical in a bottle and he mistakenly took it as a liquor and drank it. We spent all of our little earnings to save his life. He spent more than a month in Montovia under going medical treatment. Since then, He can't do much physical work. Things are so difficult for us. The house we live in as you can see is leaking. We have to sit up all through the night when it is raining. If we are blessed to receive this money and is enough, we are going to renovate our house. My daughter too is out of school. Since her school closed, I have not been able to get her report card because it costs money. Once we receive this money, part of it will go towards her school and I'll try to restart my business that broke down."

"From 2016 to up to 2020, I was selling cold storage fish with support from my late husband. The main purpose of me engaging into business was to help my late husband at the time to build our house and to send our daughter to school. Out of a sudden, my husband died, thus making things difficult for me and my daughter. Since last year I have been out of business and things continue to get difficult by the day. I only get help from my mother. If I'm blessed to benefit from Give Directly cash transfer program, I will restart my business, build my house and send my daughter to school with the rest."

"When I receive this cash transfer, I will use most of it to purchase a power saw, use the balance to pay my children school fees and cater to some family needs. I am an Agriculturalist by profession but since my certification I have not had enough money to really action my career. I am just focused on burning charcoal to sell and sustain my family. So if I receive this cash transfer and purchase the Power Saw, it will greatly help me to make a larger farm which the yields will be sold to improve a lot for my family."
