"The biggest difference in my life because of these transfers is that I have a permanent house. In my life, with the kind of income I had, I never knew I could have a permanent house ever. I knew I could manage an iron-roofed house but did not know I could get a permanent house because of my small income from casual work in the village. After paying school fees for my children, the next thing I wanted to solve is building a decent house. I used the transfers to buy building materials such as iron sheets, timber and cement which I used with the ones I had to put up a permanent house. Anytime I look at the house, I see GD."

"I spent my second transfers on boosting my retail shop and cloth businesses. These are business I started with part of the first transfers as an investment which will sustain my needs and that of my family long after the transfers are gone. I wanted to make them stable by adding more stock which will; increase my income from the profits. I also use part of the transfer to buy an Ox plough so that I could also earn an income when hiring out to my neighbours. It means I will also not have to spend any amount to have my farm ploughed when I own an ox plough. I paid school fees for my children so that they may not be sent home for the arrears at the end of the month. The rest of the transfer I used on buying food for my family so that we may not run out of what to eat in the house."

"I used part of my first transfer to buy a dairy cow and used the remainder to buy building materials and pay school fees for my children. I had always desired to own a dairy cow since I knew that the dairy cow will improve my living standards and that of my family as well but the little income that I got from my casual works as well as subsistence farming could not allow me to save up and buy a dairy cow of ourn own. The money also came at a time that I was lost on where to find school fees for my child and I therefore used part of this transfer to pay school fees for my child and keep them in school."

"I spent my transfer on buying building materials such as iron sheets and nails which I added to the ones I had bought earlier with part of my first transfers. I have used the materials to put up a decent and spacious house which can now accommodate my family well. I am glad I used the transfers this way. I also used part of the money to pay school fees arrears for my children so that they may not be sent home for fees arrears anymore. I would not also want to go through the stress I went through when they were reporting back to school for the second term."

"I spent my transfer on repairing our posho mill which had broken down two months ago. This has been my main source of income and when it broke down, I did not know how to raise money to repair it. I also used part of the transfer to buy a cow as investment for my family. I know when it reproduces, I know I know I will have many which are a source of wealth. Since I had some fees balance in school for my children, I used part of the transfer to pay school fees for my children to reduce the balance they had in school. I used the remaining to buy household items such as utensils and food which we did not have. I felt it wise to upgrade the little I had left in the house."

"I have always struggled to pay school fees for my children who are in both primary school and secondary school. They have always been sent home on a monthly basis because I was not able to raise money in time to pay for their arrears. It was my goal to give the best to my children in terms of education so that they can not end up uneducated like me. I have struggled without a good income because I did not get educated. I would not want my children to go through the same thing I have gone through. I know when they get a good education, they will get good and well-paying jobs so that they can have a better future to support me and their families."

"One of my major financial burdens has always been school fees for my children. They have always been sent home for fees on a monthly basis because I was never up to date in paying school fees. I used to rely on a small income from casual work and farming which could not even give much for our daily needs. As a result, I ended up having so many debts which I could not pay on my own. When I received my first tr5ansfer, I used it to pay back debts and to clear fees arrears for my children so that they may not be sent home anymore. I am glad they have never been sent home for fees arrears since last year which is a very big step in my life."

"I spent my transfer on buying building materials such as iron sheets, timber which I added to the ones I had bought with part of my first transfer. I have been living in a small grass-thatched house and I thought it wise to use the transfers to upgrade to an iron-roofed house. I also used part of the transfer on paying school fees for my children who are in primary school. My desire is to always pay their fees in advance so that they may not be sent home for fees arrears throughout their life. The rest of the transfer I use on buying four goats as an investment for my family. My desire is to have an investment which I can turn to when I have a financial crisis without having to seek help or borrow. I also bought food to boost the little stock we had left in the house."

"I plan to spend my transfer on buying three cows as an investment for my family and can also use them for ploughing my farm and other people's farm at a cost to get an extra income. I also plan to use my transfers in paying school fees for my children who are in both primary and secondary school. This will help to keep up with the arrears so that they may not be sent home for fees again. The remaining I used on buying household items such as bedding for my children who did not have good ones. The ones they had old and torn and they could not sleep well. I am glad they now have good and new ones."

"I spent my transfer on buying building materials such as iron sheets, timber and nails which I used on building my new house. I have been living in a grass thatched house for the past two years. I felt it was time to upgrade to the iron-roofed house through GD transfers. I used the money to pay the mason who constructs the new house. The remaining I used to pay school fees for my children to reduce the balance they had in school. I am glad since then I have never received any letter from school about fees arrears. I also bought food with the transfer soi that we may not lack what to eat in the house.I would not be happy when we do not have food in the house."
