"My biggest accomplishment is planting this season. I am looking forward to the harvest because for some time we could not plant like the rest of the neighbors. We had financial constraints that would not allow us to lease a piece of land. My plan is also to continue rearing the goats and chickens for trading. In the next few months, the chicken would have multiplied and so are the goats which can be sold to earn some income."

"I would love to keep cattle. Goats, sheep and chicken would be what I am aiming to keep. That would be a good way to increase my income. With extra cash I can grow my business and stock more items to beat the competition I am getting from a wholesale shop that is right next door."

"Since I am the bread winner of five, I am planning to practice subsistence farming for a living. I will buy a larger piece of land since I do not own one as at now. In the past years I had been hiring the land for farming which was quite expensive as I used it only during rainy season. With the good harvest of maize, beans, tomatoes and onions , my lifestyle will be better as I will be able to provide basic needs for my family since I will be selling out some of them when produced in excess. I also have a plan of raising livestock like chicken, sheep and goats. Currently I have some few chicken, in the coming year and beyond I will add more for sale. I will be selling out the eggs and for consumption."

"I am a farmer, I rear cows, turkeys, chickens, and goats. The livestock helps me take care of my family, for example, the cows give me milk every day morning and evening, and the chickens give me eggs. In terms of food, my family is well taken care of. I have seven children, six are married and one is in college. Paying for my children's tuition fees has been a challenge and most days I sell my livestock to cater to it which is not always sustainable. Receiving this money has enabled me to build a permanent place for my livestock so that I can rear as many livestock as possible and sell them for commercial purposes."

"My home currently isn't that safe, to improve security of my goats and chicken. I plan to use $300 to do fencing around my compound. We also have piped water in our village, it has not reached my house. I intend to use $100 to purchase pipes and also cater for labour costs when setting it. This will enable me to have enough water for domestic use. We currently fetch water from the river, and its very difficult for us. To ensure sustainability of the project, we pay a monthly fee of $2 for water access. In addition to that, I need to improve the breed of goats I have. I need the bigger ones. I envisage buying 10 goats for $400. I will then let them grow and sell. This means I will be able to plan for my children school fees. My eldest daughter is now at grade 6."

"I want to live a good life in the future and that is only possible with good education and financial independence. When I completed my high school education two years ago, I was not able to proceed to college because my parents were unable to raise my school fees. To achieve my dream of pursuing a mining and exploration course, I must save up money. This is challenging because I depend on casual jobs and chicken selling to make ends meet. Sometimes, I hardly save any amount in a month as a result, I foresee staying two more years before joining college. Receiving this money, therefore means I will fulfill my ambition sooner than I had expected. I am so delighted to see my life change after enrolling back in school. I will use all the transfers to pay for my tuition fees and other school levies like accommodation and food."

"I want to launch a poultry business throughout this year. I currently rely on farming, but it has been difficult because of the severe drought. Due to a lack of rain, all of the crops we planted last year dried up, causing us to suffer significant losses. I want to start a poultry project where I can make money by selling chicken at the market. As a result, I won't have to worry as much about feeding my family. In addition, I want to help my kids learn and keep them from being sent home a lot by paying school fees for my 3 children."

"Our family of six consists of my husband, our four children, and me. My husband, who provides the majority of our income, has a food kiosk at a neighboring market centre. He does not earn much from it, as indicated by the fact that he occasionally finds it difficult to afford a full day's food hence at times we miss meals. Two of our elementary school-aged kids had outgrown their uniforms. As a result, I paid $11 to buy them new school clothes when I got the first transfer. I spent $600 on two chickens for rearing, and I'm glad they have started laying eggs already. I still have $37 saved up to spend on ducks later. They produce two eggs every day, are more marketable, and I anticipate making a decent living from them in the future. I used the remaining $19 to buy food for my family."

"What I am striving to accomplish in the near future, is my starting a new business. I have always wanted a hardware business, specialising in plumbing fittings. This would be a much needed injection of funds for my family and also a means of self employment. I also want to get 10 acres or so of land to farm and keep chicken and goats on, for sale."
