"I have two kids who are still studying. One is in a local poly technic pursuing engineering while the other one is in college pursuing an agricultural course. The former is in his first year while the latter is in his last academic year. I usually pay a combined 60,000 shillings per annum as school fees for each academic year. Raising this amount has not been easy since I do not have a reliable source of income. Receiving this money will bring a sire of relief as I will be able to clear the outstanding fee balances amounting to 70,000 shillings."

"Receiving this money means good education to my children. I have 2 kids who are in secondary school but paying for their fees has not been easy, because I work as a casual laborer who earns 300 Kenya shillings per day. I am planning to spend 70,000 Kenya shillings to clear all the fees arrears. This is going to enable them to study with a lot of ease because they will not be sent back home to collect school fees. This is going to generate income in the future because I believe they will be employ. Apart from fees, I will spend the remaining part of the transfer to renovate the roof of my house which leaks during rainy season."

"Being an orphan, it has been an uphill task getting money for education and other basic household needs. My elder brother dropped out of school due to the same. Receiving this money is the beginning of life breakthrough. My worries of me and my 3 other siblings dropping out of school have been lifted. This money will enable us pay my school fees and that of my younger siblings. I am planning to spend $150 to pay for my form 3 education upfront and buy a dairy cow worth $300. This means my siblings will comfortably go to secondary school in the next one year from the proceeds of this cow."

"Receiving this money means a spacious house for my family and any visitor who might visit us. Sometimes visitors pay us a visit and they miss on somewhere to sleep. I'll use part of the transfer to expand my house by two rooms to facilitate this. I'll use the balance to pay for my daughter's school fees so that she can have enough study time in school. Doing this will make me happy."

"I spent part of my first transfer buying some building materials such as building poles, iron sheets, timber, and ropes. This was for the construction of a new house since the previous one was in critical condition and very small. During the rainy season, it was so frustrating becasue we used to be rained on till dawn or seek shelter from our neighbors. Also, I am planning to buy goats that will serve as the living assets that I can depend on. To add to that, I saved the money for my children's school fees once they resume school. With the remaining amount, I am using it in buying enough foodstuffs for the family."

"I am a housewife who depends on my husband who works as a casual laborer at our nearby center. This job earns him 300 Kenya shillings in a day. This amount is not enough to cater for all our needs such as school fees, thus making us have pending school fees areas. Therefore, lack of a good source of income is my biggest hardship."

"Financial constraints has been my biggest hardship in life. I was brought up in a very humble polygamous set up. I have 7 siblings , not to mention my step brothers. My parents could not afford school fees for me to study beyond primary education. My dream was finishing my studies, building a decent house, marrying early enough and raising my children well. I married my wife few months ago at the age of 36, and have not build a decent house. Lack of finances are to blame for my plans not going as expected."

"My life is now different in that, I have a new house which I built with the transfers received. I couldn't imagine that I would build one anytime soon but thanks to whoever came with the idea of cash transfers. I also paid school fees for my child for the whole year. This was something which had never happened before. I would struggle with little income from farming and pay in small amounts."
